I love that the first back who will probably get carries right away wasnt even mentioned.

Chicago does not have Benson.

Forte will start

You're right....I left out two obvious ones in Forte and Smith. They'll both get plenty of carries, it's just I haven't heard rave reviews except they they are both in the right place at the right time for carries.

Definitley should have included them though. I probably left more out too....it appears to be a very good class, but we won't know for awhile.

* Ray Rice: Living in Baltimore, this is the only thing they are talking about. This kid is on fire down here. And that is saying something considering they lose a different Lineman every other day.

Sounds like Rice is really going to get a chance to shine this weekend with McGahee out. You're right about the press there--and coaches--they are loving RR in camp.

Just like Reggie Bush was going to be a "super stud" right?

:lmao2:

77 catches a rookie RB returns punts. He will have his best season. Every1 knew he wouldn't walk all over the NFL like he did in college.

Felix Jones will be very good
Rashard will be JAG
DMac - I see bust
Jamaal Charles will be ok but nothing special
Ray Rice - I see good to very good
Stewart - I see JAG
Tashard Choice - JAG.

reasons....
FJ - is in the perfect system for him.
RM- from what I have heard is mentally weak. (read big baby)
Dmac - I have said this since we got Clevelands 1st rounder there is something about him that has bust written all over him but I just can't put my finger on it.
JC -solid but I don't see anything special
RR - he has the heart needed to be great
Stewart- has no lateral movement will just get hammered by defenses
TC - just not enough there to be better than good

now my hunches are as good as yours but that is the way I see it panning out

what makes you think FJ will be better than DMAC that is ridic.

who ever things Felix will be better than Dmac is just a homer and is OBV being blinded and is being bias.

Just an update...so far so good for this 2008 class.

Felix looks like a nice pick for the boys. So far he looks like an upgrade to our overall package.

Rashard mendenhall looked like a beast his first game.

Chris Johnson has laready busted a 66 yard TD run in his 1st game.

Ray Rice was so-so, but was going against a nice D.

Choice looks like a very nice 4th round pick.

Torain is hurt, so stay tuned.

Stewart is playing it safe and resting

more to come.............

We'll try to keep a running tab on rushing/receiving totals for:

D McFadden, OAK
J Stewart, CAR
K Smith, DET
M Forte, CHI
F Jones, DAL
C Johnson, TEN
R Mendenhall, PIT
R Rice. BAL
J Charles, KC
J Hester
R Torain, DEN (when he gets healthy)
S Slaton, HOU
T Choice, DAL
T Hightower, AZ
--------------------
Barring injuries, Forte and Smith and then McFadden have the easiest route to getting the main workload. But all of the above should see plenty of action during the season.
Let me know if I missed someone.

Dallas likes what they see of Felix so far.

Steelers are liking Rashard Mendenhall, saying this guy is a real speciman. Parker is still the man though. They're calling him the man of steel...how original.

Carolina is digging Jonathan Stewart and are very impressed with his inside (and goal line) run game.

The Titans are being amazed by Chris Johnson's jaw dropping talent every day--saying he is far more than just a receiving RB.

I haven't heard much from Oakland on Mcfadden but assume he will do very well..or even great.

Baltimore is also liking Ray Rice a lot...no surprises there from a lot on this board. I think he was a favorite of theogt and others.

Even J Charles is holding his own in KC.

Torian is looking very good in Denver too.

Thoughts?

I think this group of RB will live up to their billing as one of the best RB groups coming out of 1 draft.

It can't be homerism as I said it before the draft.

lets wait and see if I am right... I don't believe Dmac will be the star so many are projecting him to be.

Here's the update after preseason wk 2 (carries-yards-tds):

McFadden: prewk 2: rush 6-44-0 rec 1-5-0....ttl pre= rush 18-92-0, rec 1-5
Stewart: prewk 2: rush 4-3-0...that's total so far
K Smith: prewk 2: rush 4-19-0...that's it so far
M Forte: prewk 2: rush 3-17-0, rec 1-7-0...ttl pre= rush 14-43-0, rec 4-17-0
F Jones: prewk 2: rush 3-17-0, rec 1-27-0...ttl pre= rush 9-49-0, rec 3-56-0
C Johnson: prewk 2: rush 8-46-0....ttl pre = rush 14-123-1 , rec 1-13-0
R Rice: prewk 2: rush 8-77-1, rec 3-17-0...ttl pre = rush 14-89-1, rec 6-34-0
J Charles: prewk 2: dnp....ttl pre = rush 4-13-0, rec 1-12-0
J Hester: prewk 2: rush 12-59-0 ...ttl pre = rush 25-108-2, rec 2-30-0
R Torian: injured so far
S Slaton: prewk 2: rush 13-57-1, rec 1-3-0..ttl pre= rush 24-70-1, rec 2-23
T Choice: prewk 2: rush 2-(-2)-0, rec 1-8-0..ttl pre= rush 9-38-1, rec 1-9-0
T Hightower: prewk2: ru 9-28-1, rec 2-3-0...ttl pre= rush 14-51-2, rec 4-14
-------------------
Just some notes; Ray Rice had a great game this week and matched Chris Johnson's output in preseason wk 1. Felix has looked good in both games (best receiver so far), as have McFadden and Johnson.
Hester has been tough too so far on a ton of carries.
Also, I could add Justin Forset--who is tearing it up in Seattle against the 3rd stringers so far w/ 186 yards in two games...it's up to you all. Oddly, he may not make the cut there.

Nice Job DFWJC.

Felix hasn't gotten a whole lot of chances but has done a lot with the few he's gotten. He is an awesome receiver, out of the backfield. 56 yards on just 3 receptions. Also, Felix hasn't gotten any time with the number 1's in a game yet (I think). It might be good to note which each guy is getting his carries with (Starters or backups).

Anyway... this looks like a really good year for rookie runners.

Wow, didn't you just dismiss Felix Jones' performance in the first preseason game *in another thread* because he didn't have the numbers that Chris Johnson had? Now you are espousing McFadden's 12 for 48 performance?

You are pretty much my least fav poster because it is so obvious you are agendizing your pre-draft braying about viable runningbacks. What exactly would it take to make you admit that Felix Jones was a good draft pick? Does he have to be ROTY?

The TRUTH is that DMac has NOT looked all that special in games from what I have heard and seen. He supposedly has NOT been making people miss, and is going down a lot on first contact. He has had one big game so far this preseason, and that was because the OL opened up a huge hole for him to run threw.

I will be the first to admit, right now, it seems like I missed BADLY on my projections on several of the top RB's.
Mendenhall, and Chris Johnson has both been VERY impressive so far.

Only 2 rookies have more attempts than Dmac Slaton and Hester. Only 2 RB has more rushing yards that Dmac Johnson and Hester. He is putting up number whether you want to give him credit for it or not.
