This will be interesting; NO mention where it will be held though. Thought they also would move it out of NYC??? The FANs made the draft into an unofficial "national holiday"; we'll see soon enough if the NFL just killed the golden-egg laying goose... :(

I really hope they move it out of NYC and around to some other areas. It doesn't have to be in a team's home town, but a city nearby. It needs to move around, and let other fans enjoy the draft. I live in FL, and I'm sure Bucs, Dolphins, and possibly Jags fans would love to see the draft. In TX, you obviously have Cowboys and Texans fans. In California, the NFL would have 49ers, Raiders, Chargers fans, and probably Cardinals and Seahawks fans as well. Heaven forbid we see something different besides Eagles, Giants, Jets, and Bills fans.

You know.. I don't think that's too far fetched.
Agreed. I would also add that it would not surprise me in the least that I will eventually see the Super Bowl played in the month of March sometime during my lifetime.

I guess the NFL forgot about the entire West Coast.

4:30 PM start time on Thursday.
3:30 PM start time on Friday.
7 fricken AM on Saturday morning.

Okay, Roger, I've accepted this whole no effort at all to bring football to Los Angeles but come on now. I love the draft but I guess I just don't get to watch it anymore.
Pro football in LA would be so rotten right now, an expansion team in a recession would eat it financially and taxes are already unbarable, just wait until the city funds a 2 billion dollar stadium and then where are you going to put it? Malibu? That won't happen. Thousand Oaks? San Dimas? There's just no room anymore for big construction projects, unless you want to imminent domain South Central and bulldoze illegal aliens and low income households into the streets and likely incite rioting in the process.

LA does not have the infrastructure for a pro football team, crazy as that sounds from the media capital of the world but its honestly true, the city is so transient that loyalty to local football went away with the Rams, the substitute team for most is the Dallas Cowboys or Chargers.

The NFL will start broadcasting games Monday through Friday eventually if Goodell has it his way.

And the front of jerseys will no longer have numbers but they will say Quiznos or something stupid on it.

Unbelievable.

Goodell ruined my favorite weekend of the year.

Hey Roger.... some people have to work on Fridays you dope.

I want to watch the draft all day on a saturday at say ooooohhhh 12 PM and be able to chat with my peeps on the zone and listen to the ticket at the same time without the thought of going to bed because I have work the next day.

I can't believe this.

Yeah, these sorts of changes definitely aren't for the hardcore fan. I loved the draft as a weekend affair. Draft weekend -- it just rolls off the tongue lol. I'm not trying to be one of those "things were better back in my day" type of people, but geez, Thursday night? meh.

NFL = No Freakin Logic

I say we boycott the draft until he gives us back the format we grew to love.....

Day 1 - Start at 12 pm EST

Rounds 1-3
I like the time reduction in the first two rounds, but removing the 3rd round from the first day blows. Just move the 3rd round back to Saturday.

Day 2 - Start at 11 am EST

Rounds 4-7
This works perfectly. 4 rounds at 5 minutes a pick. It should go by rather quickly, but at the same time, give us Draft junkies a heapin, healthy dose of picks.

I say instead of rescheduling the draft and changing the makeup of it.....leave it basically like my format....with really only 1 drastic change. Let the City that wins the SB that year host the draft.

Or, they could move the draft to Canton, Ohio....let them start their journey in Canton and then see if they can end their journey there as well. This one seems kinda corny to me, but it was a thought, so I threw it out there.

Draft Weekend = 2 day holiday for pigskin geeks.

Goodell is obviously an Alpha Beta and just took over our dorm. It is time to take it back Tri Lamb style...............

The thing that gets me about this is: Does the draft really appeal to more people by being placed in a prime time slot? Isn't the draft inherently geared toward interesting the hardest core of fans or fans that may not like pro football but have some vested interest in the college players being taken?

I mean, good gosh, the draft isn't exactly exhilarating television for the non fan.

I just don't get it. To me, the draft is something that football fans will find no matter the time, date or place. But it's not an "event" for non football fans the way the Super Bowl is, so I don't see more people suddenly tuning in just because of the placement on TV. My wife, for instance, likes football. She doesn't miss a game. But she can't last 15 minutes on draft day. I don't see a 7:30 p.m. slotting changing that.

What's next? Justin Timberlake singing the national anthem to kick off draft night? Jamie Foxx standing at the podium and calling out the draft picks? The Jones Brothers performing between rounds? Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul voting off the biggest reaches of each round?

Sadly it was my favorite weekend of the year... except opening day.

Unfortunately what a lot of you don't realize is that the vast majority of fans are not "hardcore". They don't know who is on their starting offensive line and if their team isn't on locally they don't watch. They don't buy Sunday Ticket to watch every game etc etc.

I think that moving it to primetime on Friday would have made much more sense but the NFL is a business. Sure this sucks - I'll have to try and find a TV at 2am because I'll be in Iraq this time next year! But in all seriousness yeah it bites but all of the fans acting like the NFL owes them something is ridiculous.
