as for nash, id take him as of right now, the 2011-2012 season. i think of it this way. if my life depended on a team winning 1 game, id take nash over westbrook and rondo right now. i doubt that will be the case next season though
When I evaluate a point guard, I look for someone who above all else understands the situation of the game and can play in that "floor general" role.
Right now Chris Paul is completely unparalleled in that regard, though Tony Parker certainly played amazing this season and still is. Derrick Rose sometimes I think casts that to the wind and plays more of a "me first" style of basketball, but his supporting cast somewhat demands it. He's more of a Gary Payton style point guard - scoring first.
Steve Nash is a pure point guard...ultimate distributor. Depending on the roster you have, and if you have scorers already on the perimeter and in the low blocks, Nash is the perfect point guard compliment. He doesn't have to score 20 a game for you to win, because his assist totals will more than make up for his lack of scoring. Other guys, you can't really say that.
The one thing that Rondo does do well is rebound, but at the same time he doesn't have that total awareness from the point guard position that you look for. In fact, his shot selection and decision-making sometimes is completely the opposite of what you want, and Russell Westbrook is guilty of the same thing. The difference is that Westbrook is a volume shooter and gets more buckets that way, whereas Rondo generally knows he can't shoot and scores almost all of his points in transition.
