i think D Will is in tier one also, but like casmith said, its arguable because of the nets struggles and his ego in the jerry sloan debacle.

as for nash, id take him as of right now, the 2011-2012 season. i think of it this way. if my life depended on a team winning 1 game, id take nash over westbrook and rondo right now. i doubt that will be the case next season though

When I evaluate a point guard, I look for someone who above all else understands the situation of the game and can play in that "floor general" role.

Right now Chris Paul is completely unparalleled in that regard, though Tony Parker certainly played amazing this season and still is. Derrick Rose sometimes I think casts that to the wind and plays more of a "me first" style of basketball, but his supporting cast somewhat demands it. He's more of a Gary Payton style point guard - scoring first.

Steve Nash is a pure point guard...ultimate distributor. Depending on the roster you have, and if you have scorers already on the perimeter and in the low blocks, Nash is the perfect point guard compliment. He doesn't have to score 20 a game for you to win, because his assist totals will more than make up for his lack of scoring. Other guys, you can't really say that.

The one thing that Rondo does do well is rebound, but at the same time he doesn't have that total awareness from the point guard position that you look for. In fact, his shot selection and decision-making sometimes is completely the opposite of what you want, and Russell Westbrook is guilty of the same thing. The difference is that Westbrook is a volume shooter and gets more buckets that way, whereas Rondo generally knows he can't shoot and scores almost all of his points in transition.

Hate that the game got so out of hand... Next one will be very tough.

On another note, I don't see why Brooks didn't put Sefolosha on Parker earlier. He's clearly their best player and TS is the Thunder's best defender.

Real answer I think is that Brooks just isn't that great a coach.

He's more like a cheerleader than a coach :laugh2:

100% agreed. the other thing about nash, he has an AMAZING jump shot! and i think only him and CP3 can get to any spot on the floor. they just dribble, dribble, get some screens, and BOOM, they get to their spot, hit a shot, or find the open guy

Well and that's the thing about Nash (and what a PG is supposed to be able to do) is be a fairly deadly long range shooter. When nobody's open, and they've gone through all of their progressions and reads and run through the offense, they should be able to knock down 15 footers and further with great consistency.

Neither Westbrook nor Rondo are very good at controlling the tempo of the game and putting their teammates in a position to score and setting up mismatches. Westbrook is just horrible at it, because he's basically a scoring swingman playing the point, and Rondo's assists all come off of dribble penetration, which is fine, but when a team forces you to play a half-court set (like I said the Heat would, and like they did with Chalmers playing off defense on Rondo, thank you) you absolutely neutralize him because he's not capable of playing the total awareness role that's required of a PG.

Edit: John Wall and Rondo are very, very similar. Almost carbon copies.

john wall is a better dancer:mad:

lol, but i agree again, if nash was at least a decent defender, he might be a top 5 all time PG

I know this game! I've been playing it since I could walk and watching it as far back as my memories realistically manifest as a child lol.

3 years old I was outside on my parents back patio in Hinesville, Georgia shooting on a Fisher Price hoop. I remember my shots being a "Michael Jordan shot" if they went in and a "Larry Bird shot" or "Isaiah Thomas shot" if I missed. -- thanks Pops, lol.

He is not ....... anyone that actually understands the game knows this.

He plays much closer to the true four position than Dirk who plays more like a small forward.
