2012 NBA Playoffs Thread

I really don't care that they got beat by the Spurs a couple of times in the regular season because it doesn't mean anything. The playoffs are a whole different animal. We see it year after year teams who lose a regular season series against a team end up winning against that same team in the playoffs. The 2008 Hornets team wasn't that good at all. It was basically CP3, West, Chandler, and a bunch of scrubs. The Clippers are most certainly better from a talent perspective. You've got CP3 who's been the best player in the playoffs so far, Griffin (Yes he's a flopping *****, but he's still a top 5 power forward), Butler, Jordan, Foye, Mo, Bledsoe, Reggie Evans. That's a pretty good team right there.

i doesnt matter wether you "care" or not, its reality vs your fantasy world, that team was better, they had a bigger PPG differential, which is a HUGE determinant of playoff success. and it doesnt matter wether you "care" or not about the regular season, since its VERY likely that the winner of the regular season series wins the playoff series, again, its just your selective memory telling you it doesnt matter, when, if you ACTUALLY paid attention to what is ACTUALLY HAPPENING, you'd realize it does matter

chicago won series 2-1, now down 3-1

orlando won series 3-1, now down 3-1

those teams have a reason, injuries to their best player

miami won series 3-0, now up 3-1

boston won series 2-1, no up 3-1

spurs won series 3-1, now up 3-0

OKC won series 3-1, won playoff series 4-0

LAL won series 3-1, now up 3-1

clippers won series 2-1, now up 2-1

so thats 6 of 8 series, with the other 2 missing top 5 players!

It's awfully early to being making a statement like this.

thunder won season series vs nuggets, won series

bulls won season series vs pacers, won series

bulls won season series vs hawks, won series

celtics won season series vs knicks, won series

hawks won season series vs magic, won series

in case you arent very good at math, thats over 70% for the regular season winner over the last two years, and if we went back, it would be the same thing. so again, YOU remember the times a regular season loser won a series because it stands out, but it doesnt mean it happens often, or that "the regular season doesnt matter" because it clearly does.

maybe its because you are a lakers fan, and those early 2000 lakers teams truly could just switch it on in the playoffs, same with my spurs in the mid 2000s, but thats the exception, not the rule.

CP3 is probably the best PG in the NBA for many reasons. His skill is unreal. He creates a shot at will. He can completely take over a game. Basically play 1 vs 5 on offense. He makes up for his size on defense with being a great pick pocket(learned from Kidd, who has stated this). He is a star so he gets calls. He flops with the best of them maybe as good as Ginoboli.I know this. You never count him out of a series. he pushed LA last year with a lot of scrubs. He has players now. He will give SA trouble.I also think Blake G. is gonna give SA fits. He is so athletic and that is where i see a weakness with SA,inside defensively. Bynum is gonna destroy them inside if they end up playing too.

on cp3, i guess we will just have to agree to disagree for now, i hope we get that series next. as for bynum, if duncan guards him the entire time im not worried about him, what im worried about is whomever duncan ISNT guarding between him and gasol. our best bet is probably keeping duncan on bynum, splitter on gasol, and hope for the best! i hope to god the thunder win that series with the lakers cuz im trully petrified of the lakers!

Yea the Laker frontcourt is trouble.Duncan cannot guard Bynum. The only center that can come close is Dwight. Chandler has major problems with him. OKC has that "will and desire" that Mavs had last year. Should be interesting.None of these teams can hang with Heat IMO. They run all day and have a halfcourt game. Stifling defense as well. And most importantly have the refs down the stretch. We shall see.

Last time I checked 2 regular season games were better
Evidence to follow than a 17 year old, homer lakers fan's opinion

So what? He's still 36 years old and there's no way in hell he's gonna be able to handle Bynum over the course of a 7 game series.

Good thing the Lakers' chances of taking San Antonio to seven are pretty slim then, innit?

Not slim at all. The Lakers if they made it to the WCF would have a great chance at beating the Spurs.

In your opinion, he handled him just fine when they ACTUALLY played! So, I'll reiterate, I'll base my opinion on what I saw and not what you think, mister "Duncan is too old to handle Big Al Jefferson!"
