If resigned I say our needs in this order are DE, OG, RB, DT, S
If not resigned I say DE, DT, OG, RB, S

Good post. Totally agree on DE, OG and DT.

I actually think our backup RBs will be fine (as backups, not that you want to feature any of the three).

And it will be an unpopular opinion but I think Wilcox and Heath will start at Safety next year and do well. I'm sure we will draft a Webb type of developmental player but I think they will get two good starters out of the current group of Wilcox, Heath, Church and yes, Johnson.

There isn't much else to look forward to, is there? Only one victory, that over the Rams, outside the NFC East.

I hear ya. At this point, I have revenge games on my mind. The Green Bay game for one. and Well, always nice if they can sweep the East.

We need to acquire draft picks via trades and re-stock.

RB-- find a durable guy that can run between the tackles and can pass protect. They're a dime a dozen.

I'm starting to feel like we've drafted a dozen and I want my buck twenty back.

DL is going to be needed to be address. If Hatcher is brought back, we at least have one interior lineman position solidified. We will have Crawford and Bass back next year, so that will help the rotation. It remains to be seen if they can develop into anything other than role players. Hayden isn't anything special, but could find himself with a roster spot due to a lack of any other real options at the 1 technique. Although, if their original intention was to make Hatcher the 1 and Ratliff the 3, maybe that is what they would be doing next year? Hard to say. Either way, we will have at least 2 players added to the rotation inside after sitting out this year due to injury.

Of course, if they let Hatcher go, they may need to grab a few DTs.

At DE; similar issues exist. Ware has been injured this year. The depth behind him is terrible. Selvie is JAG. He is filling in admirably, but an upgrade is needed. He wouldn't be bad to keep as depth, but if he isn't on the team next year, so be it. We can get better there, too.

Safety... I hope Church and Wilcox can get healthy in a hurry. The team needs to see them in action to see if either are a long term solution.... of if one/both need to be replaced. That could be another need, too.

RB. Murray can't be counted on to stay healthy. The talent behind him is non existent. RB could be a need.

TE. Just kidding.

WR. If Austin is let go, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Dallas draft a WR in the mid rounds with some size and potential. They would need another outside receiver if Dez or Terrance went down to injury.

OG - That's the most commonly cited need along the OL. I wouldn't mind seeing a OT brought in, as well.

Punter. Another need.

Things aren't nearly as bad this year without the injuries.

The problem is that you MUST hit on a couple draft picks this year in the trenches b/c nobody can be signed.

We must hit on the next draft absolutely. The problem is we have no talent in the front office who knows how to draft worth s***.

Right now, you need a coach, you are NOT getting rid of the GM or owner, (and frankily Stephen isnt impressing) , we have given Garrett a decent team and taken so much off his shoulders that he barely has to show up to the game, (wish he would try that) and now you want to give him yet another year to waste? No, he has proven hes not ready for the job, how much more does he have to prove that hes not going to do the right things, much of any, and how many years and talent (and if that dont work , coaches) before you say, "guy, come on, somewhere in all this dumbing down, you have to shine somewhere" , how many?

This HAS to be a trenches draft/offseason. Has to.

Realistically, even if Hatch is resigned, we are going to need another DE and DT, and both guard spots are going to be up in the air.

Fo' shizzle, my wizzle

Biggest question in my mind is whether the Cowboys chose to sign Hatcher to the $10m contract someone else is going to be willing to pay him. He is on pace for 16 sacks which is an absolutely incredible number for a DT.

Does the club eschew the conventional wisdom that you don't put that much money into a player who will be 32 next season?

I'll just bet Jerry resigns him to a contract larger than fans would like.

I hope in the end it works since we'll have no choice but to hope.

Yea, I dont think its necessarily a bad idea, but I didnt think the need for drafting OL/DL this year was as urgent as some others.

For instance, I still like the Esco pick over Warford, even though Warford is playing well.

Can I ask why?

Good question.

I'm sure he was drafted to be Witten's eventual replacement, but I have serious doubts of that ever coming to fruition.

Maybe it does.

I still have my reservations.

As do I.

In fact, I had em when he was drafted, fearing it would be a repeat of the poor return on investment made with Fasano and Bennett.

And thus far, it's looking that way.

Or worse.

The rest of this years draft looks great other than that, but I'd hate to see a repeat of the futility of another failed attempt to run the two-TE offense while the running game struggles without a fullback.

Lather, rinse, repeat.
