Not an important question at all. He's paying for it, so whether he needs or wants a truck is his business.

This is my dream vehicle. Currently saving my pennies so I can buy one. :)

Best vehicle I have ever owned as a Ford F-150 Supercrew FX4. And I've owned a Dodge pickup, Chevy Avalanche, and Chevy Tahoe LTZ. The ford was better, by far.

Ford just seems like they've been building better vehicles all around lately in comparison with the big 3 american companies. Dodge isn't bad and Chevy/GMC seem to be catching up. That new 1500/sierra looks a lot better, although the dash seems a bit dated.

OP. For the record, I've never owned any of them. Just worked at an independent pre-owned dealership overseeing inventory. I only saw these cars with relatively low miles (less than 45k typically).

The prices make me sick! I thought the idea was to make them for the working class guy...yet. A majority of guys can't afford a used one with 60 k on them

A lot is going to come down to preference really. I would never own a Ford. Some won't own a Chevy. But really the best buy I've found is the new Ram, now with the diesel option makes it a pretty top notch truck. I am a Dealer account Manager for dealerships across the us for a large Finance company and from what I've seen on the finance front Ford has a great resale value

In my region, GMC/Chevy offers the best resale value. It is also common for Chevy parts to be the cheapest. I have noticed when visiting other states that it is a noticeable difference in the percentage of different brands from one area to another. When I visit my family in Texas, I have noticed more Ford trucks than what I see here in Mississippi.

I have been truck shopping as of late, and the prices are crazy I explained to a salesman last week that just because I can afford a truck with a 60k price tag, it doesn't mean that I would consider laying it. I am going with a mid-size truck instead if the full size. I want a crew cab too. I like getting a little better gas mileage and the mid-size offers a much better value. It is about 10 k to 15 k cheaper.

I need one badly and I just can't bring myself to paying over $500.00 a month for a truck! Not to mention I put 35k on a year

Check into a lease, especially since you will put that many miles on it. I am not a fan of leases but certain situations might call for one.

not really surprised that you sound like someone used to throwing money away when you don't have to or need to

Most leases charge an unreal fee per mile when you go over their limit. I have leased a couple and it is a good deal if you don't put many miles on a truck.

If it's not your freakin' money why the hell do you care? This is freakin' America. You want to be in a "Only have what you need" environment move to china or Russia.

You can purchase a clause in the lease and avoid that.

I drive a big lifted Silverado, I have 2 toys my boat big block naturally aspirated and an 83 g-body el camino with a 383 stroker that puts out just a little over 500hp. Pulls mid to low 9's in the quarter depending on fuel/tire setup. Uh oh I own things I don't need!!!

Haven't bought a brand new truck since '82, too many damn nice used ones always for sale because people realize they don't need the brand new one they overpaid for.

I've been doing a lot of research on new trucks lately. I've always been indifferent on brands. I could care less about ford vs chevy etc etc. I don't have a horse in the race. Although I do currently drive an F150 FX4.

The ford is nice. Powerful, and in my opinion has the best looking interior. Miles above toyota or Chevy. If you are going to buy an F150…google the 2015 model coming out later this year. If you like it, get it. If you don't like it….wait until they come out and you can get a screaming deal on a 2014 model. Gas mileage isn't great though. Not bad mind you, but not great. The ecoboost engine isn't giving people near the MPG's that ford said it would. You be the judge. My biggest complaint with Fords is the AC systems. They just can't compete with other car manufacturers. They just don't blow as cold as chevy. Not even close. Never have either. I've had several fords and they just never had great AC systems installed.

The GM's….. I was looking pretty hard at the Sierra's until I went to some GM forums. There are DIE HARD GM guys talking about how the current model Sierras and Silverado's are just pure junk. And these are guys that bleed GM colors. If you have kept up lately with the amount of recalls GM has had lately….you'll see why these guys are trashing these trucks.

Toyota… Without question the best built truck out there. Rock solid, and you'll never have to worry about it. But damn, the MPG on these trucks is horrendous. Sorry, but at $3.50 per gallon, you need to take this into serious consideration. Personally, I'm not a big fan of how they look, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Ram…..I have never been a Ram guy. Dodge always frightened me in terms on quality. But apparently all of those problems have been fixed. These are damn good looking trucks, but the big thing here is the ecodiesel engine. If you go onto the RAM forums, you will see what people are getting in real world driving. People are actually getting what Ram says they'd get. Between 28-30mpg for a full size truck. That is STAGGERING. In my f150, I put $100 per week in my tank. I get 14mpg. In the Ram, I would save $200 per month in fuel. Thats a jet ski payment (granted it would be forever).
The interiors of these trucks are really good looking. Right up there with the ford in my opinion. I believe it won truck of the year award the last two years as well. People are saying they are solid as a rock.
