Hockey is my favorite sport, so I watch more than enough hockey. Crosby is the most complete player in the league, beyond scoring. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that Toews isn't a complete player or a poor captain, because that would be stupid. However, Crosby is the most deserving player to be named captain of Canada. If Toews was named captain, I wouldn't be saying he doesn't deserve it. The Blackhawks are the more complete team, that's about it. It's obvious Crosby just ruffles your feathers. Crosby has done nothing to suggest he isn't a leader.
Realistically, Toews could be the better player and Crosby would still be the captain. I bet wearing the A will set better with Toews than it would Cindy anyways.

I hate Cindy, and I don't think he's a great leader because he's always been such a baby. But the team he's on doesn't have any strong personalities anyways, so he seems like a good leader.

There are too many teams in the NHL where the captain is just the best player...Nash had that role in Columbus for a long time. I don't think Crosby is a better leader than, say, Brooks Orpik. He is the best player in the world though, as much as I hate to admit it.

Well, I did not take into account home ice advantage, but I really see the US and Canada as #1-2, not in that order, not saying Russia will not compete, but I do not see then winning.
Sweden will have one hell of a team as well. I'm not too high on the US roster this year, they will probably get a medal but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't. Canada, Russia, Sweden, US will be the power teams as usual.

I agree, and thanks for calling him Cindy, at least I am not alone. I think the proof you need in knowing Cindy is not a leader, is the series last year in the playoffs, between Cindy's team and Boston. All he did was complain instead of play, and Boston beat the piss out of them. Then Chicago had a really good series. Also, to make Toews case, look at the Red Wings series. They rattled him, got under his skin, made him take a terrible penalty in like game 3 or 4(think it was game 3), he composed himself, and led the Hawks past Detroit.

Being the best scorer in the world, does not make you a complete player, nor does it make you a Captain. Cindy is the captain because Mario hand picked him, and he is his protege, and I am sure people would say he acts like him a bit.

Haha, Mike. Bertrup tops my list. ;-)

I hope my fellow countrymen will beat her, though.

You sure aren't, I absolutely hate him lol He's basically the same as LeBron.

It shouldn't be Cindy, it is Sydney Crysby.

However, for two weeks I will be forced to cheer for him.

Then again, fans of a team with Cryan Ryan Dyvan Kesler on their team should not be whining about players on another team.

Canada better start Price in nets and not Puongo. I also hope they give Subban a legitimate shot. Only in Canada would the defending Norris Trophy winner possibly be the 7th dman.

Just perfect. Shows GREAT leadership!

Has nothing to do with leadership. How he grinds during the week when you don't see him is leadership. You can't be as good as he is without being the hardest worker. Crosby had the "A" last Olympics and they won gold. Now it's his time to be el capitan. Keep hating, and he will keep dominating.

He doesn't dominate, sure he can score goals, but that means nothing in the leadership category.

hahaha you crack me up so much. Your hate for him is so strong.

He's going to go down on a very small list as one of the greatest players to ever play the game, and you are saying "all he can do is score". Yea, OK...

He's also been an alternate captain for team Canada since 2006... Named alternate captain of Pittsburgh in 05 at 18 years old, and then named Captain in 07 and became the youngest captain in NHL history to win the cup at 21. Seems to be doing just fine leading. You have legit reasons at all behind your belief that he is not a leader. Just the whole Cindy thing and a big ball of hate...

It looks like there's another athlete who graduated from same charm school as Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman.

Dutch speed skater Sjinkie Knegt was reportedly disqualified from a competition in Germany after he gave Olympic gold medalist Viktor Ahn of Russia a middle finger salute with both hands, according toThe Independent.

I guess if we are going to throw out accomplishments, here is one: He became the second-youngest captain in the history of the NHL to win the Cup, behind Sidney Crosby who led the Pittsburgh Penguins to the championship the previous season. He scored seven goals and 29 points in the playoffs, and won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. By winning the Stanley Cup, he also became the youngest player, at 22 years old, to become a member of the Triple Gold Club (Olympic gold, Stanley Cup, World Championship).

Blah hockey. In Canada they'd leadoff their sports news shows with highlights from an exhibition or juniour hockey game even if the Super Bowl happened that day. Then they go on and on obsessively about the composition of Canada's Olympic hockey team. Then their "top plays of the night" segment includes ever so awesome hockey "highlight material" like when a goalie lifts his glove 1 inch to make a save.

Yes, hockey is so entertaining with all those 1-0 or 2-1 games. Hockey is like bad sex - a lot of movement for very little payoff.

Don't hold back Kristen!

Tell us how you really feel about hockey! :D

I'll be sure never to ask you about that other Canadian 'staple' Tim Hortons.
