So how you going to sign all those guys then who's plating CB.

I wish people would wait till after the season before they start doing mock FA and mock draftd. Right now no one has a clue of whom will be available or how much money we will have or what the needs will be

Of course I can read them. I didn't know what is what about until I read it.

I just hate when people like to do mock drafts months before the senior bowl and combine. Same with FA. We have no clue about our own guys much less about what other teams are going to do with there own guys.

Its not a " Mock offseason". Its highlighting a few inexpensive mid level Free Agents

A "Mock" anything would be me guessing who we are going to sign. Nowhere in the OP did I do that

Dude calm down. Go look at who I quoted in my 1st reply. I didn't quote you. I was replying to erod who's the one with the mock offseason. Never said anything about your OP

A bit strange to think free agents with six games to go and still in the playoff hunt.

I do like Sherod and Wilson but that is assuming they aren't resigned by their current teams.

We have plenty of our own free agents we will need to decide on who to resign. Free is technically a free agent although the club has an option to pick up his contract that calls for $11 million in 2015 and $8 million in 2016. Carr will not be released since it would create over $12 million in dead money in 2015.

I would look for sometype of extension for Free that will lessen the cap hit probably on a 4 or 5 year deal. As to Carr, even if we cut him after June 1st, we are looking at $6 million cap hit in 2015 and $6 million in 2016 so maybe moving him to safety is the best bet.

As to the RB situation, everyone is assuming that Minnesota is going to move on from Peterson and release him but that is no done deal and based on what we have seen, I doubt that happens unless they sign a more than decent free agent. It wouldn't cost them but about $2.5 million cap hit in 2015 to release so certainly a possiblity. My only problem is he will be 30 next year and most RB start downhill majorly at 30.

Personally, I might wait until after the draft before committing to a free agent RB. Todd Gurley was probably a 1st round choice at RB before his ACL injury and betting he falls to late second or third now and frankly I would take him especially in the 3rd even if we resign Murray.

Other than our own free agents, I would like to get Wilson because that is an area of need. Sure would like Suh at DT but the cost would be entirely to much, I believe. Other free agents I might look at are McCourty S, Gresham TE, Pierre-Paul DE, Bulaga RT, Hardy DE, Orakpo DE, and Bradford QB.

Still a long time before any decisions are made.

Why does everyone say Carr will be gone. IIRC cutting him does more harm than good for the salary cap. He is not playing horrible. He's not playing up to his contract for some fans, because they think he should get an INT every play, nor allow a catch.

But I think it may be $5 mil in cap savings, but $17 mil in dead money.
Not against bringing in a CB but I don't think Carr is going anywhere. But I could be wrong, and looking at the numbers wrong. I am not a salary cap guru, nor want to be.

Kyle Wilson is terrible.

Seriously- he is one of the worst players on the jets andmonly playing because of his draft pedigree.

Carr is not playing well at all at corner. He's the weak link in the secondary by far; teams are barely going at Scandrick, and not even Moore as much as Carr.

I still think Carr could be a good player for Dallas, but as a free safety.

People discount how important he is as a leader and the communication he brings. I'd bet he's a strong favorite among the coaching staff.

Another top 2 round RT wouldnt heal the coaches feelings?

Doubt it. When you have a player who you can count on -- a guy who has strengths and weaknesses that you understand fully - a guy who is a leader on an otherwise very young line - you place great value on that player.

What about making a run at Randall Cobb? He is a UFA at the end of the season.

Decent chance Ted Thompson doesn't resign him. They already have their next 2nd round pick WR rising up through the ranks in Davonte Adams who looks pretty good.

We wont have the cash for FA guys like that. We will need to stick to meat and potato FA signings again and resign our own guys first.

'Cause he just helped you win a Super Bowl? :D

Exactly the kind of thinking that got us in trouble in the late 90's early 2000's and look how good those last 15 years have been.

I love me some Murray like everyone else. But lets be real for three years before this one everyone wanted to run him out of town for being often injured. Now because he has put together a string of 10 games we forget that and think it won't happen again. Especially after all the carries and the workload we have put on him this year. I am sorry but 8 million for someone who put it together for one in four years is literally like putting a bullet in the chamber and spinning it hoping you get lucky. $5 million per is fine for the complete body of work (not the last 10 games) we have seen.

Ideally the team shouldn't be too concerned about immediate cap hit from releasing a player as long as they have room to restructure other contracts.

With his contract as-is, they add 8M to the long term cap by keeping him in 2015.

They probably prefer Carr over a slightly better free agent because he knows the scheme.

They would be playing with fire to not have either Carr or a mid level FA before the draft. Moore is not a #2 CB and Claiborne can't be counted on, IMO. Going into the draft with CB as a big need is how they ended up with Claiborne in the first place.

Getting Carr to take a pay cut from his 8M salary would be optimal, but I don't know if he has an incentive to take the cut.

I thought we were done handing out mega contracts to plays who are turning 30? Yet all I see is everyone wanting to sign AP and his legal issues and image problems. I'll pass

Give me Murray or Ingram or draft a guy
