2016 salary cap estimate

Good for owners that have hefty war chests and want to spend to win like Jerry. Bad for the owners that use their teams as purely a source of revenue.

That's a much better answer than mine lol. You get a like.

It rose 10m a year for the last 2 years after being stagnant for 5 years because of the lockout and pressures from the owners.

The formula is rather simple and the revenues keep skyrocketing.

It was 133m in 2014 and 143m in 2015

"uncapped" my arse.

You can't accuse JJones of being cheap with the salaries. He might not extend or sign the right guys but he always uses restructures and large signing bonuses to spend well above the cap.

He fell a little behind this year but he was saving for Dez, TCrawford and hopefully Hardy.

I wouldn't mind giving low starter money for a guy like Bradford, Cousins, or Osweiler to be our backup. Nice to see 3 young guys with a lot of potential entering free agency this year. That plus a midround pick at QB and we would be far better there than we were this year (we aren't passing up on either extra picks or blue chip guys for a project like we are likely to be able to draft).

So I think we are projected at 20 million or something under the cap plus the 10 million increase would put us over 30 million under. Cutting players like Free and Carr plus restructures on players like Romo, Dez and Tyron could give us what 50 million or so.

We could get anybody we want in FA. Lots to work with. Would love to go in the draft with most holes filled

The problem is that we don't need "anybody" we need many "anybodies".

awesome, I just passed go and am due to collect $200. Sad we're talking next year's salary cap position this time of year......ouch

Yeah resigning Mo would help but he's hurt again. If his upside is 12 games a year then I'm not offering him much unless it's year to year.

That might make you more comfortable in cutting Carr. We have them both over a barrell really.

A lot of decent depth there.

Regardless of who else we sign in the secondary, my first move is signing Tillman for 1m. Talk about a bargain. He can give these young guns some lessons or two. I still think he's one of the most underrated CB's of this generation. I think he can have a Newman type affect like New did with Zimmer.

If we finish with a few more wins, taking us out of Ramsey territory, I'd like to see if we can haul in Gipson as well.

A Tillman/Gipson/Mebane and possibly Hardy would be a nice start to the off-season, and actually looking feasible.

We have the money to get more. No question we have holes to fill and not just one position.

Are other teams lacking money? Do the salary cap increases only apply to Dallas?

Pretty clear what the outcome is going to be. Everyone has more cap space so the players cost more. How do you think we got to a point where a QB like Ryan Tannehill has $100m on his contract?

What are you talking about. I never said Dallas was the only one getting money. What are you trying to make something up to argue about

A Newman type effect?

Well break out the checkbook. I'm in.

I get nervous when Jerry has a fist bull of dollars for Free Agency.

O really like the idea of bringing in zone corners in the cheaper tier. It might not be the most important position on the field but pretending like it's a throwaway position is just gratuitous foolishness.

Sportrac has a sortable list of FA that you can filter by position. There are several that prima facia like the CAR kd that have zero chances of actually being available but looking at the list its a long list.. OTOH, this draft isn't a bad one with a generational type player like Ramsey at the top and decent numbers of top prospects. He has a chance to be as good or better than Peterson and then there is at least this early a good amount of depth.

DT is top heavy so Im just about Knemdiche or bust but I've learned that particular want is disappointing with this regime. DT. CB. LB, WR, and QB will all make a lot of sense when we pick. This S class looks awful from the 4 prospects I've checked out. Kearse? BLEH!
