**** Vegas. They don't deserve it after one season. It really is like '96 Avs all over again. I am salty as heck, yes. A team gifted to a city by the NHL, their team model is incapable of being replicated. No way does a team get 3 second lines and a 3rd/4th tweeter line. Plus a bunch of 4-5 defenseman. Rolling three 2nd pairing Ds. No way is McNabb a legit top pairing D, either. I watched every game of his pro career prior to this season. An amazing checker, but his fundamentals were horrid after he hit the 18-19 min mark. Now he's getting 24 mins/night. Karlsson is not a 20% shooter either, cuz, well no one is. Salt for days, I admit it.

With that said, Gallant is a tactician with what he was gifted. The VGK forecheck is relentless. SJ has a nasty forecheck and VGK put them to shame. Their D is responsible and positionally sound, and helped out by a group of fwds that are D-savvy. And Fleury has been absurd.

I don't think they get past the buzzsaw in WPG or the defense in NSH (tho they've been a somewhat let-down, minus last night's great showing), but I've said that every round for them. They're a great team, I can see them upsetting WPG, even. I don't know how they get past Josi-Subban-Co.

The Jets/Preds series has been spectacularly ugly. Game 7 is a pick 'em, imo.

So happy for Ovi. He needs a ring.

**** Vegas? They don't deserve it? **** you! TWICE!!

Were you 300 yards away from the shooting that night? Were you outside when the first shots rang out? Did you have to barricade people into hallways and rooms when they flooded into the casino you work in? Were you told there was an active shooter in the building where you work? Did you make a promise to a people you would tackle that person to keep them safe because our security isn't armed? Did you have to run for a first aid kit to help the wounded, only to find it had already been ripped off the wall?

Everyone who was down on the Vegas Strip was affected that night. That affected their families and so forth and so on.

The Knights rallied around our community after the shooting & we rallied around them. You see it as just another Hockey season to be "salty" about. It's more than that to us.

Sprinkle in the fact they're all a bunch of castoffs with chips on their shoulders and you get this. We're all castoffs down here.

Having said all that, take your "salt" and shove it it up your ***.

Welcome to Vegas! :)

VEGAS STRONG!

Exactly, the Vegas Golden Knights embody the city of Las Vegas. I've been there a few times, and I LOVE that city. I'm hoping to move there at some point, and nearly did a few years ago trying to get an internship with LVMPD, but my University said no due to the hours Vegas was offering. Otherwise, I'd probably be still in Vegas.

One thing, they're not castoffs. Teams were forced to offer up players, for some teams their #5-7 Ds/2nd and 3rd line fwds (4 fwd 4 d protected, plus 1 G).

The Las Vegas incident was tragic. I don't need to root for Vegas to recognize the atrocity of that event. No, I wasn't there. But I've been to war and can empathize with those that were there that night.

Just from the Kings, Vegas could have had Trevor Lewis (whom most Kings fans thought they would take) or McNabb. Some teams elected to protect 7 fwd 3 d, exposing their #4-6 D. Teams also traded picks (and players, in the case of the Pens and Fleury) to keep VGK from selecting players on the unprotected list (tho, this is common for expansion teams in the past). Still, Vegas came out like bandits (also getting Glass and Suzuki). And are full of high energy, quality players.

Thank you for your service. You are a hero in my book for going to war.

As far as the Knights not being a bunch of castoffs...I'm just going to say that we need to agree to disagree on that one.

Fair enough, brother. And I'm sorry for poo-poo'ing on your team. I need to realize this is a general thread for all fans, not a Kings' site :) I was/am just butthurt and pouty

Funny thing. Everyone is afraid of the Kings here. You guys took our lunch and ate it in the regular season. We all thought the ride was over when we had to face the Kings.

Somehow this improbable ride keeps going.

You guys beat us the first two games we played this season. What really stirred shyte up was when Doughty said he "guarantees" that Vegas wouldn't finish better than the Kings. They were (rightfully) rubbing that in after they swept the Kings, also commenting on how opinions such as Doughty's (and the rest of the hockey world, let's be honest), is what drove them.

It's half & half for the Golden Knights players. They do feel like a bunch of disrespected castoffs (whether they are or not) and they wanted to lift the city up after the shooting. 8 of the players were down on the Vegas Strip that night and it screwed them up too. Right now we all have chips on our shoulders.

And you guys beat us in back to back games later on. We wanted nothing to do with you guys. It was a giant sigh of relief from the city when we escaped the first round from the Kings.

Winnipeg chopping down the Preds. Wave after wave of deadly fwds... still, neither team wants to take control. That first goal Rinne let in was a bad one. Gonna be a fun 3rd!

Edit -- Wheeler-Scheifele makes it 3-1. Probably game unless Forsberg goes god mode again? He and Johansen need to take over the third. Tall task for a couple of second line Cs. The Preds D has been an absolute massive let down this whole series. A team with three number ones and Rinne has looked pedestrian for large swaths of the series. Credit to WPG, tho. And Laine as been rather quiet (for his standards he set this past season), to boot.

I don't like sin city to win anything,It is a made up team by the NHL brass,I hope the Jets sweep them 4-0 .
Vegas should have no pro sport team unless we are talking about a black jack all pro team.

Winnipeg surprised me last night ... and it was a good surprise ... I'll have to pull for Winnipeg to win it all. They have a great team there.

Least surprised are most Jet fans. We know what team we have had this year and what they are capable of doing. I posted early in this thread that said, if the Jets did not lose all those man games to injury this year they would have finished ahead of Nashville and entire NHL. Thank God they didn't as that President Trophy is cursed!!!!. The Jets have been the healthiest they have been all season at the moment and they just went through a rough series with the Preds. There are 5 healthy players sitting in the booth that can come in and play on any night. The 4 line depth this team is sickening. You saw last night how the 3rd and 4th lines wore down the Preds. There cycle game was very good last night.

Vegas is a tough team but to beat the Jets, Fleury has to play even better than he has. He hasn't seen offensive firepower like the Jets in this entire playoff series. What is scary about the Jets they have players that were grounded in the Preds series. Laine has been horrible, and Ehlers, and Little have yet to get going. Connor started very slow and is now getting it in gear. Perrault and Armia just came back from injuries and will turn it up a notch. I feel that these players will get it going against Vegas finally. Vegas defense is not as good as the Preds so Fleury will face a lot higher quality shots. If he can stand on his head then Vegas will win.

My Predictions

Winnipeg in 6 over Nashville
Vegas in 6 over Sharks
Tampa Bay in 7 over Boston
Washington in 7 over Pittsburgh

Damn if I had the balls to lay money on these predictions.:(

It will be hard for the Jets to beat Vegas based on regular season result.
