You know, Sebastian Janikowski is still kicking for the Raiders, 18 years after being a first-round pick. He's scored the 10th-most points in NFL history! What a fantastic pick he was: other teams should seriously consider grabbing a kicker with their first pick. I hear this is a really deep kicking class too, so don't wait!

You know, I didn't realize you were being sarcastic at first, and was about to tell you how he is average at best for a kicker. Touché sir...touché

If Dak was drafted by the Rams first overall, little would be said about him either.

Pretty good chance he would be running for his life and not get a chance to show what hes got. Rams were 2nd worst getting sacked last season

Peyton Manning wasn't good his first season. Usually, top quarterbacks get taken by horrific teams, so they fail.

Roethlisberger benefitted like Dak, but most quarterbacks who start early inherit a dumpster-fire offense.

No doubt Dak benefitted from an all star cast on offense but he still went where we thought only Romo could with this team as before Dak arrived we couldn't win without Romo.

Honestly, I don't really put any stock in these qb class rankings. Last year was supposed to be one of the worst qb classes in a long time, and yet Dak has arguably the best rookie season ever and Wentz looks like he has a ton of potential and started off the year very sharp before trailing off.

Keep in mind we couldn't win without Romo, Zeke Elliott, and Dez Bryant, who tried to play with a liz-franc injury. There was a MASSIVE difference between the offense of last year and the year prior.

And then, Weeden and Cassel happened, too, against a string of good quarterbacks.

The next Brady will be available at 28 and the Browns will give a kings ransom to make the move. They get #28, we get their natural second and 4th this year, and next years 1st. That 5th year option is worth it for a hall of fame QB!

I have been curious, with all this talk of the draft being in Dallas next year if Jerry would trade the 28th to get a higher number next year, and have 2 1st selection in 2018...nothing surprises me with Jerry, if Jerry could muster it he'd do it, I'd buy in...I'm not overly optimistic this D will be championship ready in 2017.

The bad news: this draft class is pretty terrible as far as QB prospects go

The good news: dumb, desperate teams will make dumb, desperate decisions like drafting a QB way to early. It happens every dang year

Spread the word, near and far. This is the single greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL. Say it, breath it, live it. Scream it for all to hear.

We need quarterbacks drafted by the bushels. The more, the better. Without a first-round pick (there are generally about 18-20 in a draft), the Cowboys sit in no-man's land at the mercy of the whims and moods of the rest of the league. Such is what 13-3 brings.

The truth is, I don't think there's a single QB of note in this draft. But too many teams are in dire need of one, and the Dak Prescott Effect is causing full panic throughout. More so than most years. GMs and personnel departments are still trying to explain that one. Christian Hackenberg, really?

So we need desperately to hear Trubisky, Watson, Mahomes, Kizer, and Webb go early. Them, as well as all the running backs you can muster.

Push 'em down, push 'em down, waaaaaaay down. Bring those juicy defensive players our way. Don't be shy, go get that "next Dak" to town, and reap those benefits. You can do it !

SUCKER!
Thanks for the good chuckle - and very good take...I actually hope for the opposite to a certain degree, but I follow the logic. I would love some free fall to happen so that we have a Lynch situation from the last draft...have Watson of even Trubisky sitting there at our pick...and multiple QB hungry teams wanting to leap frog from high in the second round (say like the 49ers)...they trade us their second and 3rd to come get our 28th pick...with the trade down we still get a 1st round grade DE or DB and with that extra top 3rd we either get another very solid potential contributor on defense OR we fill out one of our other key need such as a top return guy/WR or a eventual TE replacement for Witten such as the Butt kid from Michigan (although frankly I am hoping uncle Rico can step into take that role eventually...and yes, that is a not-so-veiled reference to Napoleon Dynamite). OR...we package our 3rd and the one we receive from the Niners (example) and jump up in the second to go get a 1st round player who surprisingly falls. All in all...I see a lot of advantages to having one or two of the top QB prospects sitting there for the talking at 28 and having a team at the top of round two come get their guy...of course much of this will be predicated on what Cleveland does in the 1st round, among other factors.

The teams immediately behind us in round one (possibly with the exception of the Saints who could go QB of the future on us with their 32nd pick) aren't looking QB...HOWEVER, it is reasonable to argue that the top seven selections in round two (excluding the Rams) are all teams looking for a QB. Having 5-6 teams competing to jump up to our pick (with us as willing trade partners) could make for some interesting and potentially rewarding scenarios.

Gonna be interesting to see how this plays out...

Tell you what E - save this post for next year because you might be right without the sarcasm.

Sam Darnold at USC
Josh Rosen UCLA
Mason Rudolph OK St.
Josh Allen Wyoming
Luke Falk Washington St

Many believe Darnold is the next Andrew Luck. The throws he made in USC's Bowl game last year were just sick. 35 yards down the middle, over the LB's and fitted in between safeties and he's absolute ice. Nothing rattles him.

The others are all big prototypical NFL size with great arms. Rosen had a great freshman season but hurt his shoulder last year. He is expected to be fully healthy and will be top three on everybody's board.

Allen is next years Carson Wentz. 6'5, 222lbs with a gun. Falk plays under Mike Leach and will put up 4,000 yards next year.

Finally, while Darnold is the consensus number one right now Rudolph will make a strong push on Rosen for number 2. 6'5", 235 lbs and has another huge arm, 63% completion with 28TD's and just 4 INT's last year.

It's why some are saying the Browns should go all in on defense this year because the top three next year are just that good, with Darnold maybe being the next great QB in the league.

I think Watsons arm strength (48mph) pushes him out of the first. Lots of talk about Kizer falling to the second. Trubisky and Mahomes seem to be locks at this point. Teams have fallen in love with Mahomes intangibles and raw talent. Webb is a real darkhorse.

Unfortunately we may only see two QB's go in the first. I hope Im wrong about Watson, and there are reports of teams really liking him. But 48mph is well below the arm strength threshold

3 years from now, Watson will be the best of the lot and a long term starting QB IMO

So, your saying Weeden or Cassel might have had similar success Dak did with the 2016 offense?

No, but much more success with Zeke and Dez, as well as an easy schedule.

As opposed to Joseph Randle and No. 1 receiver Terrance Williams against New England, Atlanta, Seattle, Carolina, etc.

Interesting you left out McFadden who had over a 1,000 yards after not starting until about week 6.

Romo actually won 3 games with Randle and without Dez.

Your slant against Dak continues to baffle me?

You presented hurdle after hurdle each game and stretch in which he met the test.
