Draft Risers from Day 1 of the Combine

INDIANAPOLIS -- Offensive linemen and running backs were put through the gauntlet on Day 1 of drills at the NFL combine. Here's who helped their stock the most with their testing results.

i

T.J. Logan, RB, North Carolina
Logan caught some eyes Friday by recording the lone sub-4.4 40 time of the running back group (4.37), while also coming in the top 10 for the broad jump (10 feet, 1 inch). At 5-foot-9 and 196 pounds, the undersized back also recorded a respectable 17 reps on the bench test and showcased quick lateral agility and acceleration during drill work. Logan is polished as a receiver in the passing game, and while he had an uncharacteristic drop during drills, overall he displayed quality body control and hand-eye coordination catching the ball, which matches up with his tape. In a deep running back class, Logan is an under-the-radar Day 3 prospect whose speed gives him a chance to be a change-of-pace RB and a returner on special teams (two kickoff return TDs in 2016).

i

Taylor Moton, OG/OT, Western Michigan
The 6-foot-5, 319-pound Moton flashed the week of the Senior Bowl and continued to build on his pre-draft momentum with his performance Friday. He recorded the sixth-best broad jump (9 feet, 1 inch) and third-best vertical (30½ inches) out of all the offensive linemen. He tied for fourth with a 4.58-second short shuttle, which is outstanding for an offensive guard prospect. One question about Moton coming in was his arm length. They measured 33⅛ inches at the Senior Bowl, but here in Indy, they came in an inch longer (34⅛). Plus, he moved like a right tackle prospect during the position drills. While he's arguably still a better fit at guard, where he projects as a starter early in his career, Moton is showing teams that he can at least provide depth at right tackle and potentially develop into an effective starter there.

i

Nico Siragusa, OG, San Diego State
Outside of a pedestrian 5.35 40, Siragusa shined during testing. He finished in the top five on the bench (28 reps), short shuttle (4.56) and the broad jump (9 feet, 2 inches). These tests have had a strong correlation with success in the NFL for interior offensive linemen, and Siragusa's short shuttle and broad jump numbers fall in the outstanding range. In addition, his 32-inch vertical was tops among the offensive linemen, and he checked all the boxes in terms of height (6-4), weight (319 pounds) and length (33½-inch arms).

i

Joe Williams, RB, Utah
At 5-foot-11 and 210 pounds, Williams finished with the second-fastest 40 time (4.41) and tied for fourth in the broad jump (10 feet, 5 inches) among the running backs. He did a nice job of zigzagging in and out of the cones during position-specific drills. The way he tracked, adjusted and caught the ball is also encouraging for a player with only 20 catches at the FBS level. With that said, the medical checkups and interviews are the most important parts of the process at the combine for any player. How Williams answers questions concerning his decision to briefly retire last season and 2013 larceny charges when he was at Connecticut will ultimately have a big impact on his draft stock.

i

Aviante Collins, OG/OT, TCU
At 6-foot-4 and 295 pounds, Collins put up the second-most reps of 225 pounds on the bench (34) and recorded the fastest 40 time (4.81) of all the offensive linemen. His 33⅜-inch arms raise a red flag for a tackle prospect, and he labored early on in position-specific drills, but Collins has experience playing on the inside, and his strength/athleticism combination is sure to pique the interest of teams in the market for depth at guard.
