At this early stage, how do you view the 2017 QB class. What range do you feel they will be drafted in

1: Deshaun Watson, Clemson: Top 3. Possible #1 pick

2: Brad Kaaya, Miami :Top 5. Big season and he has a chance at #1

3: Chad Kelly, Ole Miss : Top 15. In terms of talent he isnt that far off the top 2. But he needs to play more discipled. Character concerns could drop him a bit. Talent wise he is too 5 talent.

4: Pat Mahomes, Texas Tech: Top 30. Talented QB and great leader but he isnt going to be ready to see an NFL field in 2017. Different talent and style of play than Lynch, but he could be Lynch next year in terms of slipping due to not being NFL ready. Better prospect then Lynch IMO

5: Luke Falk, Washington State: Top 45. Similar situation to Mahomes in the he wont offer much in 2017 but is a potential franchise QB.

6: Tysom Hill, BYU: Day 2. Extremely talented double threat QB. Has a ways to go as a passer, but the talent is there to be a Russell Wilson type

7: Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma : Day 2. Another talented duel theat QB that needs to work on his pocket passing.

8: CJ Beathard, Iowa: Day 3. Good possibility he jumps alot of guys on this list by midseason. Im just not ready, but I do like. Has alot of the traits you look for in a QB. Im just not ready to push him into that day 2 yet. I have him at the top of the 4th

9: Mitch Leidner, Minnesota. Day 3. He has been getting some hype, but I dont see the potential elite QB others are right now.

10: Gunner Keil, Cincinnati. Day 3. One of the more talent QBs in this class but comes with a wealth of questions including concussions. In a thin draft he would go higher just on potential. But with what could be a solid amount of tier 2 and 3 QBs, I don't think teams will reach for him.

Taysom Hill is basically Tim Tebow, only fragile.

Baker Mayfield is like a chubby Johnny Football, only not as good.

I need to see more from Falk. Leach QB's (former Texas Tech and current Washington State) tend to be system guys.

Love Mahomes.

Hill I believe is a better passing prospect then Tebow was. His injuries are a concern. A healthy 2016 and I can see him in day. If he gets hurt it could push him way down.

Mayfield is a less limited passer then Manziel was. Manziel had a ways to go before he could effectively amd consistently throw from the pocket. I think that would be less of a struggle for Mayfield, but I dont think he has Manziels immense upside.

Falk is a guy I need to watch more of too. He is getting alot of hype and seems to have the tools. But he also seems like a redshirt guy.

Mahomes is my top Cowboys target. Probably a redshirt guy which would get him within our grasp. But he has all the tools and traits you want in a franchice QB

Im interested to see what Webb does at Cal this year too. But I know very littke about him and have seen litterally nothing from him

It's wayyy to early for me to say, but like I said in that other thread, I really like Beathard and he looks like he has all the tools and he plays in a pro style offense.

I thought Taysom Hill looked more like a untamed gunslinger more than a Tebow type.

He's looks like Manziel with a bigger arm to me.

STRENGTHS: Dual-threat passer frequently slips out of the grasp of would-be tacklers to frustrate defenses and extend drives. Not only much faster than he looks; Hill is very strong, boasting the upper body more typical of a linebacker.

WEAKNESSES: Reliance on his mobility and limited passing skill cap his NFL projection. Reluctant to throw passes until his receivers are open and shows less-than-ideal ball placement when doing so. When his primary options are covered, Hill frequently drops his eyes and looks to run - which leads to several eye-popping scrambles but also a number of momentum-changing sacks.

Yeah I don't disagree with any of that.. He runs a spread, locks on to his receiver, and then runs.

He can sling it though but he'll fall because he doesn't read a defense right now.

I think I'd rather do this after they play the season.
Fun idea though!

I do think this class could be overall better than 2016.

Beathard is a guy Im really gonna keep an eye on this year and a guy that could really rise with a good season. At think at minimum he is a good game managing starting QB in the Bridgewater mold

That and him only throwing to wide open guys is why I compared him to Tebow. Also, the fact that he looks like a linebacker or tight end.
Hill is a guy to me if health wasnt a concern is guy who sits for a couple and progresses before he is game ready. A more slightly more talented Bryce Petty (a career trajectory comparision. Not a playstyle comparison) as a prospect IMO.

His ability to stay healthy this year is going to be critical for him. If he misses games this year I can see him tumbling all the way to the later portions of day 3

Watson and Kelly are the only two on that list that have my attention, as of right now.....

I think right now Watson, Kaaya, Kelly and Mahomes are the only stout top 40 guys. Which is an improvement over last year. Mahomes is a better prospect then Lynch IMO, but I dont think he will be drafted much if any higher
