1: Deshaun Watson, Clemson: probably a top pick, will likely be a bust IMO
2: Brad Kaaya, Miami: I probably like this guy the most right now of all the QBs
3: Chad Kelly, Ole Miss : just don't see the consistency I'd like plus there's off-field baggage and I'm not sure I'd want to touch any Ole Miss player right now
4: Pat Mahomes, Texas Tech: system guy just like all of Leach's statistical wonders
5: Luke Falk, Washington State: who? don't know anything about him
6: Tysom Hill, BYU: Day 2. Nope
7: Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma : Intriguing, a big year and good character report and I could see him vaulting into the top 2 rounds, maybe first
8: CJ Beathard, Iowa: meh
9: Mitch Leidner, Minnesota. agree with darth, I hear the hype, not seeing the proof yet
10: Gunner Keil, Cincinnati. nope

If you read any of my posts about Prescott you know I wasn't a fan of the pick but comparing him against this list right now.....there's only two guys on this list I like better than Prescott, Kaaya and Mayfield.

Lol, you need to watch some more tape. Mahomes is far better than Mayfield. Mayfield is in the same system I might add. He runs too much and is far too small. He's not half as good as JF was. Mahomes has all the intangibles and the strongest arm in CFB.

You must live on the East Coast if you don't know who Luke Falk is as well.

guilty, but not by choice.

for the record, I can't stand Mayfield. But I've also yet to see a Tech QB become any kind of decent pro, like every Alabama RB under Saban, huge stats no pro. We'll know most of what we need to know about Mayfield come OU-Ohio State.

First Look: Scouting Miami QB Brad Kaaya

Brad Kaaya, junior QB, Miami

Height, weight: 6-foot-4, 215 pounds (school measurements)

2015 statistics: 238-of-389 for 3,238 yards, 16 touchdowns, 5 interceptions

What I liked: Kaaya has quick feet in his setup and he has a smooth, fluid delivery. He throws a beautiful, tight ball and he has enough velocity to make all of the throws. He operates in a spread attack but there are plenty of examples where I see him read the entire field. He flashes the ability to anticipate and accurately deliver tight-window throws (see TD vs. Virginia Tech). He is at his best on quick-rhythm throws. The ball comes out quickly and accurately. He isn't much of a threat as a runner but he will occasionally escape and buy time.

Biggest takeaway: Kaaya is very smooth and has plenty of arm talent. I'll be looking for him to show more poise under pressure this fall. If he can clean that up, he will take his game to a new level. It will be interesting to see how he functions in Richt's system. I see some similarities to Jared Goff and Teddy Bridgewater. They share similar physical builds and arm talent but I thought Goff and Bridgewater performed better under duress.

He's a beast.

Like with all of these guys though it's hard to project how they will translate to the pro's because they don't take snaps under center, they don't throw many intermediate passes, and they have 1 or 2 reads max.

That goes for Deshaun Watson as well. Everyone is hyping him up but he is extremely overrated right now as far as being a sure thing.

That is why im hyping Beathard. He can attack the whole field because he reads defenses and he improvises.

I get what you're saying about Mahomes, and system, etc. But this guy is a different animal. Plus Kingsbury spent a few years with Belichek in NE and actually runs a lot of his plays.

My hope the Cowboys have a great year and we pick from 26-32 and Mahomes does fall and steal him. But he will rise as soon as the combine when he zings it 80 yards on a rope.

On Watson, what surprised the hell out of me what his leadership and poise to be so young, and in the biggest spotlight. However I think he's a little too frail IMO, at least right now, for the pros.

I dont think Mahomes will beat Kelly out and I think Kelly goes in the 10 to 15 range. Mahomes college offense will hurt stock a bit, and that could be to our advantage. Id value him right now in the 15 to 20 range and his position could slip if a guys like Falk or Leidner rises. I wouldn't take either over Mahomes, but Im not an NFL GM

I wouldn't either. I think he's better than Goff and Wentz, and that was as a Sophmore. I've said it on here for about a year, but I will say it again...if Rothlesburger and Russell Wilson had a baby it would be Mahomes.

Mahomes is a backyard QB. He runs around and chucks it up. He is not an NFL QB. Can't read a defense. Doesn't run anywhere close to a pro scheme at Texas Tech. No thanks. Reminds me of RG3. Poor mechanics as a passer. Inconsistent as a passer.

Mahomes does not sit in the pocket and go through progressions. That's not what Texas Tech does. He doesn't take snaps from center. His footwork is poor. His throwing motion is not consistent. His accuracy is not good enough. He's a 3rd round player at this point. He's RG3, Manziel, and Geno Smith wrapped in 1. He relies on his athleticism and backyard style offense they run at Texas Tech. He knows nothing about how to be an NFL QB and the mental side of the game.

Look at most of these guys. None of them are reading the defense. 2 reads maximum.

Beathard is the only guy I've seen so far that is making multiple reads.

What Texas Tech does on offense is as far away from an NFL offense as you can get. His offensive coordinator is Kliff Kingsbury. Kingsbury was also Manziel's OC at TAMU. He doesn't teach them proper mechanics and it shows. They just rely on athleticism instead of the mental aspect of the game. It's backyard style football. Mahomes is a 3rd round player right now. IMO Deshaun Watson and Brad Kaaya are the only 2 good QB's in a weak class. They will go #1 and #2 because they are so far ahead of the rest of the QB's. I don't like Chad Kelly for some of the same reasons as well as immaturity and character issues. Kelly is not ready to lead an NFL locker room. So expect him to be a cowboy.
