2019 depth chart and FA planning

Oh, I bolded the key additions needed in my depth chart.
Given:
Draft a #1 WR in 2018.
Draft a starting LB in 2018.
Jalen better than in 2017.
Woods looks great at FS in 2018.
2018 3rd round OG ready by 2019

Then you need from draft/FA: Another LB (for Lee), LT, 1tech, WR2
but i dont think Woods will be great.

They would have 2019 free agency and the 2019 draft to get those players.

They would be in great shape if these were the needs in 2019:
1-tech
Swing Tackle
#2 WR
LB

that is why i believe they are targeting 2019.
given likely FA loses in 2019, they think they will have a complete team after 2 drafts.

now if everything goes great in 2018 draft, then they can be a serious contender.
but that would need 3-4 starters and performing well almost off the bat.

i do not believe they will go into 2018 without a better LT plan.
even if they are jeopardizing 2018, they cannot jeopardize dak.

Yes, they will try to sign a free agent Swing Tackle, IMO. Worst case they have La'el practice at LT and move him there with a backup playing RT if Tyron gets injured. He was a good LT in the top conference in college football.

The key for 2019 is having a #1 WR in place. That position is too difficult to fill in free agency and rookies tend to start slowly at that position.

Getting the #1 WR in this draft also allows them to dump Dez next offseason which gives them 12.5M extra. It would be easy to get a 1-tech for less than 12.5M in 2019.

The more I think about it, the more I want to just draft WRs and OTs in 2018...

A 2019 off season thread during 2018 free agency.

It would be funny if it were not so tragic.

Given our lack of spending, this would be a reasonable plan:

FA - signing 2 older LBs like johnson, 1 G like cooper, 1 so-so FS for about $3M/yr

Draft:
#1 - WR or LT, bpa
#2 - LT or WR, bpa
#3 - 2-down MLB (perhaps with a trade up with a #4)
#4 - G or RB
#4 - RB or G
5-7 - 1tech, G, RB, S

I think they will do something before the draft at Swing Tackle. They might be wrong but they'll do something such that they won't see Swing Tackle as a high priority in the draft.

At WR they would be insane not to draft one early even if they have to reach a little bit.

I don't want them to lock into specific positions in the draft but I think the following is most likely:
1st WR
2nd LB
3rd OL

i think they have learned from the atlanta game fiasco.
that game had a huge impact on dak seemingly.

i dont think we are really bpa but bpa for targeted positions.

the top 3 priorities for me are OL/WR and LB but i think LB can be taped together with 1-2 vets like johnson and relegating the draft to a 2 down mlb. so for me, it is:
#1 - WR/OT
#2 - OT/WR
#3 - MLB

i think there are enough wr and ot that we can get a pair in the top of the draft without sacrificing quality.

I dont think a 3rd round LT is going to be reasonable.
Probably need to get a LT by 50

You can't just put things in ink in regards to the draft.

That is known method to fail at drafting.

They need to find a free agent Swing Tackle even if that is the only outside free agent they sign.

i think the giants got the only reasonable one, and we know what they paid.
although it is hard to believe anyone who have done as badly as green...
i read in quite a few publications that they are resigned to draft one.

if you look at who the 3 draft visit invitations, the 3 were:
1 OT rated at round 1 or 2
the top WR
1 G rated for round 1

Swing Tackle in free agency, not LT (i.e. backup not starter).
