Hard to say. Bregmann gave a discount to stay. Might be others following suit.Obviously an unbelievable opening game for Sanchez.
My hope is that he can be a decent #4 starter for this team next season. Which would mean there would only be one opening left on the starting rotation after Cole and Miley depart (which I expect at least Cole will).
Sanchez threw 30% curveballs last night which is his highest % ever.
It was his sinker that was getting hammered with the Blue Jays.
Any chance that those of you who thought we should dump Yuri have changed your mind? Just curious. Last year, 2nd highest average in the majors w/ runners in scoring position, and this year he's just exploded.
Good article about AlvarezJust for fun...
Jordan Alvarez's stats this season up through August 10th for both AAA and MLB:
101 games
380 at-bats
132 hits
.347 batting average
30 2B's
40 HR's
80 runs scored
122 RBI's
60 BB's
96 K's
.436 OPB
.742 SLG
.1178 OPS
Those are just some sick numbers.
40 HR's in 101 games?
Better than 1 RBI per game?
If he had enough at-bats to qualify he would be leading the league in both slugging & OPS. And he would be second in OBP behind Trout.
Oh and he would be leading the league in hitting.
I've never seen anyone like him.
It is really remarkable what he has accomplished in such a short time and at such a young age.The one thing the Astro lineup has lacked is that one "thumper". The one guy the other team's pitcher is scared to death of.
In other words their own J.D. Martinez or Aaron Judge.
Well they have one now!
No, he wasn't. Not even close.I take nothing back from Gurriel. Up through June 28th he was a below average major-leaguer with the bat. As he was all last season.
What he's done since... Has been totally unexpected by everyone. Don't know if he ate his spinach or what.
I noticed Yankee and Red Sox fans have disappeared. And that’s a good thing.
How does this relate to the Astros?Hoping alonso gets 6 more homeruns to top aaron judges rookie record of 52. Alonso with 47 after 2 tonight.
Hit 2 more HR's last nite. Coming really close to being a lock for ROTY.Yordan with 70 RBI's in 70 games.
And while his bat has cooled off a little lately he's still hitting .314 with an OPS of 1.064... Still outstanding. Even more so for a rookie.
