Its panic day! I think its clear that the defense overachieved most of the year. The Cowboys need two immediate upgrades on defense, DT and S. They have no first round draft pick and their first pick in the second round won't happen until late so the only way to upgrade either of these positions is going to be free agency. I think they need to stop shopping aat K-Mart of their defensive tackles. Its time to get serious and either draft or sign a guy who will plug the middle and take some pressure off DLaw. If they hope to get away with the jags they've been using we will see more teams do what the Rams and Colts did to the defense.

On offense its not as bad as it looked last night. The offensive line is a problem but we should get Frederick back for next year and we will get healthier. Connor Williams gets to spend an offseason getting stronger. The question is, is Tyron Smith going to be injured every year now? Will a full year of Columbo coaching help? I think they will have to deal with the Smith situation sooner rather than later but not immediately. I also think a better OL coach will get these guys playing more like they did in 2016.

I disagree with the talk about a slot receiver. Beasley is a good slot receiver and he is almost impossible to cover. His size limits him, but he contributes to the offense. It more than I can say about Tavon Austin. If they can sign Beasley for a reasonable amount then they should do it. Don;t create more problems than they already have.

I like your list. But I would replace LG with DT and put Lg as 6. But if Leary would come back at a fair rate I would be completely open armed
I dont LG was a huge problem this yr. DT isnt really a problem for Dallas. If you look at the game last night and what the Rams did, it was the coaching that blew it. What the rams were doing was bunching up and running. But still dallas kept its S' deep. Dallas needed to adjust and do what teams do the cowboys and load the box. It seems Richards was scared to do that. And if you go look at the game again, Richards is caught on camera screaming at the Lbers not the DL. The DL was taking up blocks, Vander and Smith and Lee werent getting off blocks. Or were caught cheating on the Bunch sets looking for the quick hit pass. When either one on a particular play was a run priority first. The coaching never adjusted to the misdirection the rams run on every play with the motion.

This draft is very deep at DT. I wouldnt hate seeing tghe first pick be a DT.

if the team don't get better at coaching and qb play none of the rest of this matters

What do you think they are?

I’ll go
Edge Rusher-besides Lawrence not a lot of consistency
DT- Woods is a solid backup but he got mauled today. Need a Monster DT.
Safety- heath cannot be the starter again. He’s a decent backup he just doesn’t make enough plays.
WR- we need a better slot WR. I love Beasley but I want a guy who’s a consistent Red zone threat in the slot.
RB- Zeke needs a better backup. Someone who can actually make some plays for us.
Is CJ Anderson a FA?

I'll try and do this without mentioning red:

D.Coor - while I would love to have a DT in the middle, marinelli's scheme is not suitable for that type of player. While stats show otherwise, we've been vulnerable up the middle all year.

DT - look above.

Slot WR - Bease is gone and will be too expensive to bring back probably. I wouldn't pay up.

O.Coor - There is way too much talent on the offensive side of the ball, even with the deficiency under center. They have to start scoring touchdowns.

Kicker - Maher is not reliable.

KR/PR - they need to bring a specialist in.

Backup RB - I used to like Rod, but no more.

Strong Safety - Heath is not going to cut it.

More oline depth, specifically at tackle.

Quite frankly, I think the team is pretty good, but they need better schemes and the coaches to implement them.

Starting quarterback.

A few things:

We were not susceptible to the run all year, we were #1 in yards per carry allowed. So the best in the NFL against the run.

I think Tavon can and should be that return specialist assuming we resign him.

And we have a good starting quarterback already

To reiterate what others have said:
OC
DT1
LG
S
RB
DE
TE
Slot

Not going to able to re-sign everyone due for a new contract. I would not be able to pay Jones and DLaw top money, but the toughest decison of all is can they pay Zeke mid 8 figures? I don't think they can. They are stuck with overpaying Dak and really need to focus on getting the OL back to dominant form and getting a couple of complimentary backs in to take over the running game.

Need 2 Monster DT's that can clogged up the middle and get rid of Rod and his outdated scheme.

Why overpay Dak, don't go a dollar over $20M.

We also need a great all around TE. For all the improvement these young guys showed in the pass game, they are as bad as it gets in the run blocking. And that is very very important in this offense. Almost more important.

Need a new OC as well.

I don’t understand why people want to sink more resources into OL. If everyone was healthy a starting 5 of SMith, Filo, Frederick,Martin ,Collins
Is better than 99% of the league. Not to mention Williams, and looney for depth. I think that’s a lot of resources there already and plenty of talent. Most teams do more with less. What we need is more playmakers on offense not more lineman.

PS Frederick coming back will be our 2019 1st round pick.

Who knows what will happen with Richard. Maybe look at Steve Wilks if Richard isn’t retained.

Swiss cheese roster with no first round pick. Rams carved em up and exposed em. It’s a rebuild but we all know that’s not happening
