CFZ 2022 season is another crossroads moment for this organization

As TC draws closer, I'm getting more enthused by the day! I'm seeing good things on the horizon for this team. It might well prove to be a bit of a slow start but as things get going after the initial start, I'm expecting this team to come around in fine fashion. I'd like nothing better than to see us bearing at least a 10-7 record as we head into the playoffs again with invigorated zest. If it seems as though I'm getting excited, kindly be aware that it's true!
Cmon, folks -- shake off the doldrums and get with the program! It ain't all bad, it's good! Let's enjoy the ride, OK?
The offense will still be good and the defense -- most likely, better! Perk up, dang it!

Jerry does not need to do anything. And what has he done or said this off-season to get anyone pumped? He and Stephen have actually been pretty quiet.
It has been the players and even MM doing a little bit of talking, but not nearly like they have in the past. And what they said is not out of the ordinary like all teams and players do.

But for some reason it is hated on here as everything else is hated.

We are less than 90 days from the start of the 2022 NFL season and this year shapes up to be another crossroads moment for this organization.

As a team/organization, the Cowboys have been at this place 7 times in the last 22 seasons. Can they follow up a playoff season with another? They have only done it once in the last 22 seasons. 2006 and 2007- that’s it.

Why is having back to back playoff seasons important? There are multiple reasons:

• It would break the bad habit of killing organizational momentum. Back to back playoff seasons show your organization is capable of staying competitive for more than just once in a while. It also shows your organization can build something that lasts longer than a season.

• It would establish Mike McCarthy as capable of leading this team beyond what Garrett or Phillips could. If the Cowboys don’t make the playoffs in 2022, Big Mac will have only made the playoffs 1 of 3 seasons. And I’m almost certain he would be fired.

• Failure to make the playoffs in 2022 would once again reinforce that JJ is incapable of hiring a HC who is able to building a winning culture. I don’t think Jerry has ever valued the importance of having a HC that can command the room AND the organization. He’s only hired two that could do this- Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells. The first brought us SB winning rosters and culture; the latter was the last to provide a culture capable of having back to back playoff seasons. (Yes I know Phillips was the coach in 2007, but those were Parcells’ players)

IMO, the culture is what’s killing this organization. The unaccountable culture the Jones boys have created is by far the biggest challenge for this team to overcome. Making the playoffs in back to back seasons would be a huge step toward this team being playoff relevant again.

None of us know whether or not they will. But it will sure tell us a lot about whether or not we are an organization that can ever be more than occasionally relevant. Here’s hoping 2022 will be different.

Always insightful. While I think Jerry will always run his PT Barnum act to remain top half of the league relevance, the reality is the fans and league have caught on that this franchise is a punchline. 1995 is further and further away.

Training Camp keeps inching closer, and I am wishing time would slow down because it's going to suck me back in. I don't see this organization winning the division this year. Sure, they have a nicely curated schedule of weaker teams they can beat up on, but they will falter and will do so at the worst possible time.

This organization isn't built, nor equipped, to deal with adversity, and they've had a ton of it since January. I'll watch, might even drive to the game in Nashville, but I will not bet the Cowboys until they prove me wrong.

After 26 years of nothingness this is just a sad tune. You can be a fan and still be fed up with all that's going on in and around a team. Especially when those "new opportunities" aren't based on anything really good going on. Or what is it exactly that has created / will create those new opportunities this off season so far?

I mean one could think that you'd have to wait until TC at least to talk about new opportunities, when players have been able to show their skill set?

So if this was just a "never give up hope" thing I agree, new seasons always bear new chances. But right now we're still in fairy tale land then.

I know you know, but the same two guys - who happen to own the team - are still the ultimate personnel decision makers despite their track record.

We can "what if" this and that all summer, because there's not much else to talk about, but there's no reason to expect more from this organization.

As for a crossroads, there really isn't one. The structure won't change, regardless of results. There will be new scapegoats, and business as usual.

We did nothing this offseason outside of giving away Cooper and paying an injured WR. Even Daddy knows it, refraining from saying he's "all-in" this year. I do think there will be big changes if we fail to win the division, but this season doesn't seem to interest Daddy&Son very much. Their only checklist was getting rid of Cooper and giving all the money to Gregory. They went 1 for 2 and called it good enough.

The problem with the Cowboys is they are never at a crossroads, which implies a change in direction. They go down the same road forever. They are convinced if they just keep heading in the same direction they will eventually get to their destination. Things like coaching changes, don't change the direction either. They just stop the bus let one coach off then let another coach on. But the bus, driven by Jerry and his mini-me, keeps heading straight ahead.

And some folks are just deluded in general and whine about everything.

Plus they can always win it in spite of them. As that will be the reasoning when / if they do. As the usuals will not give them credit.
