2024 Update: Purdy 800k, Love 12M, Dak 59M

Dallas:
Dak Prescott would have had to be significantly better than both Purdy and Love in the playoffs, he was less than both.
We needed a healthy Stephon Gillmore (or Diggs) to play man coverage with Bland, instead injury forced Quinn into playing zone, a disaster. We needed a healthy LVE
to have a chance at stopping the run, instead we had safeties playing LB and got blown off the ball against the run.

SF: The extra QB money allows SF to field a better overall roster and the best in the NFL
For example, the extra 26M pays for cap hits on Nick Bosa 11M, Fred Warner 9M and Dre Greenlaw 5M

GB: With Jordan Love at 4M, the three WR's on rookie contracts (Watson, Doubs, Reed) they played WAY above their pay grade.
GB is young, talented and have great coaching. They're a very dangerous team until Love wants 50M, the Wr's and DB's want 20M each

Ok and…..purdy will be in line for a mega extension and then they’ll face the same roster hurdles other teams do. Once dak was off his rookie contract that’s when things got complicated but that’s also how it is for most teams. If you can win big during the qb’s rookie deal than that’s ideal but it’s easier said than done.

Good info,

IMO the biggest obstacle facing the team has to deal with the 2024 Salary CAP hits from, DAK ($59mil), CD ($17Mil) Z. Martin ($28mil), DLAW ($20mil) Gallup ($13mil) how Jerry approaches the Salary Cap will determine everything....who gets the paid, who doesn't...can they or will they bring Free Agents in and who gets a new contract...Its gonna be a interesting offseason in Dallas.

Cowboys are currently setting $16mil over the cap....what will Jerry do

I don't think Lynch and Shanahan pay Purdy.

Jordan Love only made it as far as the Divisional Playoff Game. Plus, he's been in the league for 4 years now. Dak as a redshirt rookie took the team the same distance in the playoffs and actually outperformed Jordan Love by a mile or two.

Yup, and we see teams drop overpayed QBs who are not winning it all. Jimmy G took the 49ers to a SB and then they got rid of him.

I think good teams are starting to realize that paying for a decent QB may just not be worth it. Cardinals are paying too money for Kyler, is it worth it, or does the exodus of other quality players weaken the team too much ?

My meaningless view is that you pay the top QB’s (Mahomes, Allen, Burrows, Lamar) as they can elevate the team, but just be very careful of the next group of QBs such as Dak, Cousins, Kyler, who need lots of talent around them to win. If Dak gets his big $50mil a year payout, I think this team will be worse in the medium to long run.

Meh….Mahomes and Allen are still playing today and their contracts are way more than Dak’s.

Problem is for they way we are constructed we need Dak to perform in the playoffs.

The money SF and GB have to build the rest of the roster is criminal

Agreed. No argument there.

Dak NEEDS to accept a contract extension of between $35 - $40 mil/year and give the team a good discount so we can keep the main pieces in place while able to keep building the team.
