For this year, maybe. But it's too early to write off the class.

Picks in rounds 4-7 were made for depth and potentially future roles.
Fehoko was a luxury pick potentially, but due to the depth at DL, wasn't going to get much playing time this year. Maybe next year if Armstrong and Fowler walk.

3rd rounder had a season ending injury but flashed.
1st rounder is getting playing time but not like he plays a position that will flash stats.
Schoon lost most of the training camp. Only pick I didn't really care for but we are 6 games into the season.

this team is not deep in talent. there are 12 UDFAs. not saying they are bad but you are not going to find top talent in UDFA. you find good, some contribution, etc. but stars are far and few in between, but that's 22% of the team. then there is 8 2023 draftees who are not contributing. that's 20 out of 53. so 38% now who really isn't that good.

Nothing? That isn't true and quite a few rookies have contributed. Mazi, Schoonmaker, Aubrey, Luepke, Richards, and Bass have all contributed.
Contributed to a above average team not - CLEARLY - a championship team but then those who bleat about season wins care not for actually winning it all.

Overall, I believe that Dallas is the best drafting team in the NFL over the past 10 years. There are several metrics that have been thrown around like "pro-bowls" and "still in the league after XX" years that have been posted here. If you have a long term issue with Dallas' drafting, I question your objectivity.

This past draft doesn't look good though. It should get some time as many players need a season to acclimate. The team would need many of them to turn around to consider this a good class though.

when you are drafting at the bottom of each round the expecation is that you get players that are likely about a round of talent below where they are (in the early rounds - start to normalize later)

We had a very good roster to begin with so a lot of the guys we picked up will just take some time to develop, cant write them off 6 games into a season...

First of all, they were picking at the bottom of every round in a bad overall draft.

If the point is about being a fool to have a philosophy of using your first couple of picks to fill gaping holes in the starting lineup….then yes, not all that smart, but they don’t want to get exposed in free agency, and they form personal relationships with their own picks and worry about signing them way before it’s necessary.

The disadvantage Dallas has off the field with these two running things is very real.

Yeah sure, they’ve done well in the regular season lately, but consider how much better it could have been with a GM that actually knows how to make trades and sign key free agents.

The draft picks you listed were Mazi, Schoonmaker, and Richards. What have they contributed?

To be fair, the team has drafted well in recent years. The last draft was a disappointment. It's too early to judge the players I think, but the team made some bad choices. Schoon was an absolute reach. OL was a big need, but they passed on a solid player at that spot. RB was a significant need, and the team basically ignored this position too.

I think Mazi will develop nicely though, and Overshown looked very promising before his injury. Luepke is solid too.
