Also, undrafted rookies count too. They are part of the draft even though they weren't drafted.

I understand the sentiment of "having patience".

But when the organization relies so heavily on the draft, they need as many draft picks contributing at once as possible to get over the hump.

That's the downside of not getting quality contributions yet from your rookies.
Under-rated post.

I understand it's been 6 weeks, but it's hard to be red-shirting guys when we don't plug enough holes using FA like other well managed teams.

And I do think we draft well.

For this year, maybe. But it's too early to write off the class.

Picks in rounds 4-7 were made for depth and potentially future roles.
Fehoko was a luxury pick potentially, but due to the depth at DL, wasn't going to get much playing time this year. Maybe next year if Armstrong and Fowler walk.

3rd rounder had a season ending injury but flashed.
1st rounder is getting playing time but not like he plays a position that will flash stats.
Schoon lost most of the training camp. Only pick I didn't really care for but we are 6 games into the season.
Yes overshown would have been veryuseful this year , down the hill and sideline to Sideline his speed and nose for ball would have helped and may be that would have changed opinion for the whole draft class.

I dont know by scheme or Big Mac offense cant figure it out , TEs are not flourishing. Initally Fergie dropped soem balls true, but he and schoon are asked to block mostly , hardly any targets , ( Dak if he had hit Schoon on the first pass in SF , probably that game would have taken a diff path ? Ok , ok. Dreaming , LOL )

so what? they have a 1-2 record in the playoffs. none of the 12 are all pros or made probowl. 8 draftees this year are MIA. that's 20. that's 37% of the team.

so yeah, 28-12 is meaningless. this team is not deep in talent. seemingly not that good in draft as much as everyone wants to claim.
It is meaningless except for folks like you who say the Cowboys have no talent. Don’t try and change the narrative to playoff record vs talent although it proves my point.

well, let me repharse. they don't have championship level talent. does that help?

First of all, they were picking at the bottom of every round in a bad overall draft.

If the point is about being a fool to have a philosophy of using your first couple of picks to fill gaping holes in the starting lineup….then yes, not all that smart, but they don’t want to get exposed in free agency, and they form personal relationships with their own picks and worry about signing them way before it’s necessary.

The disadvantage Dallas has off the field with these two running things is very real.

Yeah sure, they’ve done well in the regular season lately, but consider how much better it could have been with a GM that actually knows how to make trades and sign key free agents.
Well I guess they could have dropped the first rounder so they could pick at the top of the 2nd. Maybe drop the second and pick at the top of the third?

Overall, I believe that Dallas is the best drafting team in the NFL over the past 10 years. There are several metrics that have been thrown around like "pro-bowls" and "still in the league after XX" years that have been posted here. If you have a long term issue with Dallas' drafting, I question your objectivity.

This past draft doesn't look good though. It should get some time as many players need a season to acclimate. The team would need many of them to turn around to consider this a good class though.
Jaylon and Trysten and Gavin and Sam agree w/ you. Maybe Schooner too, still too early too tell.

Those are just two sites that popped up after a google search. They created a scoring system and ranked every team's drafting results using hindsight. Dallas was 4th of 32 in both of them. I have seen other sites using different metrics that has Dallas as #1.

Every team has misses. Using a baseball analogy, some people here would complain about a 0.400 hitter because they fail 60% of the time.
