Don’t over pay a FA RB with NFL mileage draft one in rounds three or four and have them under contract for 4 yrs. Zach Evans Ole Miss fits the description .

I don’t think anyone’s gonna pay him super high. It’ll be in the 10M area. If you move on from Zeke and use rookie deals I don’t mind paying Pollard 10M.
If they cut zeke June 1 save 11 million but I have a feeling they’ll rework his deal like tank. Frees up money for pollard.

That’s the scenario I see . Rework Zeke as your change of pace tough yards blocking option make Pollard an offer to stay as your starter 12-14 Touches with Zeke yr 8 mop up duty . Icing games a red zone option 3rd down pass blocker .

Good draft as well. I would tag Pollard and draft Zeke’s replacement in the third.

Bingo.

I'm also cool with our guys. We've got a good RB in Malik Davis, and Shampklin is still out there. I wouldn't forget about him.

I personally think we keep Pollard.

Those guys will make the team but if one of dudes from Texas or Alabama fall to late in the first I would consider drafting them. I just feel both will go in the top 15.

Sanders is a guy I would like to take a flyer on. He doesn't have much sex appeal because he's never had a 1000 yard season and doesn't score TDs, but he's got a 5.1 career YPC average.

Sanders is the Eagles Tony Pollard. He is the slasher with outside speed.

Yall weird. Draft a RB in the third round next year. Pollard is a great player but this entire board has *****ed and moaned about Zeke getting paid years ago. If I'm an NFL GM I draft a RB in the 3rd round every 3 years. It's that simple. RB's are the easiest thing on the field to replace, ESPECIALLY, with a offensive line that the Cowboys have. I don't think Pollard is some super human RB, I think he is fast and plays behind a great line.

situations aren't comparable. nothing weird or contradictory about it. pallard has a fraction of the wear zeke does/did, won't command nearly as much money, and isn't holding out two years in advance. with that said, drafting a guy is probably the best move

with a better line and more dynamic rushing attack.

I don't think Stephen pays him and that's sad. He barely has any typical RB wear and tear on his body and he's absolutely a weapon.

What type of comp pick will the Cowboys get when he leaves via FA? 3rd? 4th?

Hate to see him go but he deserves his payday. I just don't see it here with Dem Boyz. :(

Dallas Cowboys select in the 1st round of the 2023 draft...

I think Zeke is going to accept a paycut to stay, kind of like DLaw did. Team becoming run first, will either resign Pollard or use a high pick for his replacement.

Makes sense

We can either pay him, or use the 3rd or 4th round comp pick for his replacement. Pollard was a 4th round pick, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility that we get a replacement for him with that pick.

The comp pick is a year later, but if we draft a RB in this draft the pick used would be offset by the incoming pick the following year and you get cheap labor out of that pick.
It still comes down to a trade off between a guy we know can play at a high level, and "it’s not outside the realm of possibility that we get a replacement for him ..."
