Yeah it seems unusually weak. Jerry said they had 10 draftable prospects on their board. Does that appear low? It seems like most of the players they signed probably didn’t have draftable grades. This also appears to be a weak draft in the later rounds.

Maybe we didn’t get the players we had draft able grades on? Sort of surprising. Cap boy typically gets rock hard when he hears cheap talent.

Not going to lie … this UDFA class may be the worst I’ve seen in 10+ years. We usually crush this part of it
It is for all teams. Eagles GM had a press conference talking about this after the draft, how 2 major things are colliding at the same time to cause this. This is a combination of being over the hump of COVID players where a ton more than usual were coming out the last 2 years, and NIL’s having changed how many players have come out for this year.

It’s now been 4 seasons since COVID, so all those extra guys who stayed in college ended last year. And then NIL’s have been around for 2(?) years, so all the 3 year players making good money in college that aren’t projected to be day 1-2 picks are just staying another year.

Should be back to normal next year.

Wrote in another thread as well - I can‘t understand how the 3 or 4 most talented RBs didn’t beg to get signed by us and why we didn’t go after them. No easier chance in the NFL to not only make the roster but get playing time in real games.

Schoonmaker must really be bad
He is recovering from off season surgery.

The team needs to build a 90 man roster for camp. This is going to require more bodies at all positions.

Most of the UDFAs are considered camp bodies with some potential or some traits and given an opportunity to showcase what they can do.

I wish people would listen to hear McCarthy at pressers, he explains these things very well. Butost listen just for gotcha sound bites they can hopefully later used against him or they just want to spout off why they know better than a Superbowl winning HC.

Looks like from what i've read of him so far, he's a tackling machine at ILB.... team captain, Defensive Player of the Year in the MVFC.. and very durable, no injuries i read of so far....so you never know with these UDFAs... some aren't all bums or Home Depot bound. 6'2 235.....kinda reminds me of Zack Thomas or Dat Nguyen.. He ain't no Dexter Coakley, but come on now, who is ? :muttley:
Except Dat and Zack were both less than 6 ft tall

Peat, it seems to me, is more of a KO specialist who potentially could play some RB, than he is a RB who can return kicks.

And it does make some sense in light of the new KO rule. No great revelation, of course, but McCarthy in the presser specified it would reshape a bit how teams would construct their rosters.

Well, first, we only have insight into who got signed, not who Jones, Jones & McClay LLC went after.

But, supply and demand applies... I think anyone they would have went after would have been someone with some speed, and even looking also at the ones drafted, this wasn't an RB class big on speed.

I think 3 dudes off the UDFA signings will make the team and have roles.A linebacker, The Peat kid, mostly as a special teams guy, and emergency rb. Then the Crooms kid wr. I like him in the slot and he might be better than Tolbert right now. Linebacker is there for the taking. Wide open competition.

This was not the best year for prospects period, nobody really had a great haul

Eagles signed Gabe Hall? Baylor sucked last year but I am surprised he was not drafted. Looked the part and he wasn’t playing with a talented group.

Yeah he had a good senior bowl too which is what you look for from guys on bad teams whose tape can be tougher to evaluate.
