Would bet they go with a versatile offensive lineman in the 1st, Troy Fautanu/Graham Barton or cornerback not sure how the final rankings will look but the kid out of Toledo looks intriguing.

1) Tackle/Guard - grab a college left tackle that projects inside in the pro's.
Big and mean !
2) RB - haven't looked at any yet, but preferably a # 220 big strong back. Pollard should not be back, he cost $10 million this year and he's not gonna be any cheaper. Should be some good ones in the 2nd round.
3) MLBer. We need a big body in the middle.
4) No pick.
5) Comp. Pick - best available Slot Corner.
6) Comp. Pick - Best available depth.
7) 2 picks - depth players.
Only caveat would be if we were picking 31 or 32. And all the top Tackle/ Guards are already gone - I may look at grabbing the Center Pran (sp) who looks great.

1.DT still our biggest need IMO.
2.RB to replace Pollard.
3.G/T Tyron and Zach getting up there.

I love Bell at LB and clark seems decent with overshown coming next year. Not a need IMO.

I said it last year and it didn't really happen lol...but the need is more for a veteran, responsible player. There's enough athleticism and ground covering among those three.

Was gonna quote post, but don't really have much to add. Kinda agree except I think Gillmore resigns.
I think we should be aggressive in the trade market and look to add a starting DT and move Odighizuwa to a bench/rotational role, but that's about it

1 - LB - I think LVE is done. I believe we need a serious MLB. I like Overshown and Bell, and I like what Damone Clark did against Philly.
2 - OL - Position doesn't matter, but I think it'd be easiest and most impactful to upgrade the Center.
3 - RB - I think this team would be much better right now with a serious threat at RB. I like Pollard, but will the team give him a big contract to be the #1 back next year? I don't see it happening, and a good RB can be had for cheap in the draft.
4 - DT - I like Osa a lot. Behind him, we don't have much. Mazi is a question mark.
5 - FS. A seriously good FS would help this defense even more.
6 - WR - Yeah, WR. I would make resigning both Lamb and Cooks a priority, then finding a solid WR3/4 in the draft.

This team would be better right now with better run blocking. But they will probably draft a RB to replace Pollard.
The Cowboys have solid WR3 and WR4 now. Some would say WR5 also. Plus the PS guys. (clearly I'm not down on Gallup as some.)

Draft strategy ... pick the best player at that spot. No dancing, no finaggling, no wishy washy BS.

Pick the best player at that spot.

  1. LB - huge vacancy on the defense. Clark is a JAG, Bell is aggressive, but undersized and will wear down. They need a couple of bodies here, preferably someone who can play three downs.
  2. C - Biadasz is good enough to be replaced. A position in need of an upgrade.
  3. DE - Armstrong and Fowler are FAs, and I doubt that both will return. They need a young pass rusher to develop, and possibly a base end for run downs to replace Lawrence down the road.
  4. DT - they still have a weakness against the inside run, and can use an interior rusher. Can Fehoko be that guy? With him not being active this season, you can't count on that. Gallimore will be gone after this season, and Hankins may not return either.
  5. OG/OT - dependent on whether they keep Tyler Smith at guard (my preference) is which on is the more important hole to fill. Not sold on Waletzko as a prospect, and Richards needs significant strength training. Tyron Smith should be brought back, and only see time on the field on game days.
  6. RB - Pollard is OK, and Dowdle is a dime a dozen back. With Pollard's contract situation a question mark, they need a back who can give them inside running punch and pass protection.
  7. WR - Cooks effectively has one year remaining on his contract at an 8M salary. He's probably returning. Gallup can be let go with a 13M dead cap hit next year (a 5.3M loss against the cap), and this may happen. Tolbert has been so so and needs to step up. Drafting another outside prospect would be a consideration.
  8. CB - Lewis and Gilmore are free agents at the end of the year. Lewis should not be brought back, Gilmore should be if the price is reasonable. Diggs will be somewhat of a question coming off of his knee injury. They need Mukuamu and Eric Scott to step up. Other bodies could be needed, but this could be done in FA (insert laugh track).

LBs are exactly like RBs, you don't draft them in the first round unless they are highly needed or really exceptional (just because they usually don't have long careers). To me, at the end of the 1st Round you can find good value for C, Guards, RT, starting Safety, #2 receivers and #2 CBs. I think Dallas should look hard at Center or CB in the late first. Martin just signed an extension so drafting a guard is not an immediate priority (could be a later round pick), therefore if they let Biadasz walk, center becomes the hole. If they re-sign Biadasz then CB becomes a need due to Jordan Lewis's career getting short. The starting corners next year could be Diggs, Gilmore (or draft pick), and Bland but either way you can never have enough Corners.

Agreed signing a vet would make a lot of sense. Drafting OL early seems logical this year. Still annoyed we coulda had Bergeron or Torrence last year. But hard to complain we’ve been drafting unbelievably well, esp considering we haven’t had early picks.

They are in their developmental stage. Very possible they allow Biaz to walk and 50/50 Tyron returns, add in Martin is aging there is a need for more talent.
We also have Bass to plug in at OG or C when needed.

Overshown will be back. Malik Jefferson? Rashaan Evans?

I'd like one on day 2. Getting a 3 down LB - is that a thing any more?

Overshown has zero track record, and may take some time to come back to full effectiveness from his knee injury. Jefferson is a body at best. Evans can't get on the field now. Both will be free agents after this season. As for three down guys, Fred Warner, Lavonte David and Patrick Queen are examples.

Follow the money. Below are all FAs and the Cowboys love to draft for need:

Tyron
Pollard
Gillmore
Lewis
Dowlde
Kearse
DA
Fowler

I’d do everything I can to bring Tyron back and attack the money positions early in the draft (OT, CB, DE).

I can’t imagine that Jerry is going to let Tyron walk. I think once they re-sign Dak and extend CD they will be able to do some things. Tyron should definitely be a priority.

Agreed in principle.

I think Tyron comes back though, and this is a really good crop of FA RBs. After last year, you're going to be able to get a Saquon or Josh Jacobs for basically what you paid Pollard this year.

Tyron would be a big priority for me…1 or 2 year deal.
