2024, "soft rebuild"?

More like a "soft tanking."

Jerry's just not stupid enough to say that publicly. It's bad for business.

Although every step this FO has neglected to take since getting embarrassed by the Packers last January could lead one to no other logical conclusion.

It was a wasted season since March when they decided to pass on FA

FA would not solve the multitude of issues the team is facing. I think the FO genuinely thought that Dak and Ceedee had the amount of impact on the record these past 3 seasons close to the proportion of their extensions. If you never look at the negatives to moving forward with the core star plan-you must hope that those stars make up for any deficiencies on the rest of the roster.

There's a reason most coaches and FA's were signed to one year deals.

Fisher, take him with a grain of salt, has been saying they were planning to blow it up after this season if it didn't go right.

Of course the flaw there is that if you're going to rebuild, why do you ever do it "soft"? They're wasting 2024 if that was ever even the plan at all.

.
This was set up to be a throwaway season and that's what it's turned to. No real plan other than playing out McCarthy's final year and getting all the coaches contracts on the same "timeline". And extending Dak, CeeDee and Micah. But that's it.

At most, at the end of the season we will just see Big Mike's contract run out and then a rearranging of the deck furniture on the Titanic. Rinse and repeat.

The best way to accelerate a rebuild is for Micah to basically make no impact after the bye so they don’t give him 35 million. Then trade him. He’ll get picks and save $. Paying him assures your roster will never be top 10 again.

You can’t pay top of the market for:
Dak
Lamb
Diggs
Micah

And still have room for
T Smith
Bland
Ferguson
Overshown
Beebe

Plus the need to find depth pieces including a starting DT, LE, RB, QB2 and WR2.

How many fans believe the organization has taken a "soft rebuild" approach to the 2024 season? If so, what do you think the plans are going forward?
I recall Jerry just making a comment that he was shocked. So what do you think???

I don’t think any high draft pick can fix this team, it’s rotten to the core, meaning from its front office all the way to the players.

I think you should never listen to Jerry.
So why would you think Jerry is doing a soft tear down then?

If Jerry is doing a tear down, it is with his intent of making a playoff run.

Meaning it could happen, but that is not what he was trying to do. So therefore it is highly likely.

In no way, shape or form does signing an incompetent QB to 4 more years constitute ANY type of rebuild.

I don't think that's how a soft rebuild works. I vaguely understand the concept but just enough to be curious about it. What little I've heard seems to make sense.
CowboysDrew mentioned in this thread that Mike Fisher spoke on the issue. I did a YouTube search and found this video where he details the concept.

I understand and like the concept, but I would never give Jerry the credit for it.

I don't imagine this being a Jerry thing, it's more like an organizational decision, so far as I can tell.

If you are picking top 15, what position would you target first?

Beast RB
Stud WR,
G
DT
DE

There’s so many holes on this team. The lack of weapons kills them in the red zone but they keep getting whooped because they can’t win the fight up front.

Which is totally pathetic point of view because if Dumb & Dumber had the opportunity to do one thing it has been to invest in a few 'key' quality free agents but the continuously refuse to do so
