2025-26 NBA Season

Kerr signing up for two more years with the Warriors.

Expect them to be all in trying to lure/trade for a top notch talent (ex. Giannis) to pair with Curry as he closes out his career.

There’s no way they are running it back with the status quo.

26 year old top 3 Luka >>>>> 31 year old Giannis

They aren’t comparable.
I disagree slightly. He’s a champion and top 5. Luka plays all year long and was considered out if shape.

If Luka was in shape and didn’t play basketball all year I’d agree. Whoever trades for Gianni’s is gonna have to give up similar compensation as if he was 26.

31 is old for the nfl not for the NBA.

Problem with them is I don’t know what they have to trade. They’ve made a mess of their trade assets. I remember when they were winning and had young Poole, Wiseman and Kuminga off the bench. Nothing to show for that,

But you see why I believed you were a Luka Stan? You keep talking about the Luka trade. As if you need to convince me it was bad. It was bad. Terrible. Even if Luka retired tommorow it was bad deal. Hopefully we can establish the move was bad lol. Getting Flagg was luck. Not skill.

Mavs were not trading a bunch of picks for Flagg. If you believe that you must not remember how hyped up Flagg was. He was 18 years old and was destroying NBa players at 17.
When talking about the previous FO and looking at the future with the new FO and how that will impact the future for the Mavs the Luka trade will/should always be included in the discussion. You can't just decide that everyone that refers to the Luka trade in a discussion with you is a " Luka Stan".

You're making and or made assumptions based off your emotions regarding past Luka discussions that you have had with, or seen with others. (Forums/reddit posts , personal friends ect)

You forgot that Luka is also a huge Euro star who attracts high revenue with that Euro demographic. Whomever has Luka doesn't just get the player, but also the brand. Also, I do agree that the knock on Luka so far has been his conditioning, but make no mistake about it that he carried that Mavs team who made it all the way to the finals to play Boston. Mavs just didn't have enough talent around Luka to beat Boston being that Boston was a beast of a team that year.

I have to agree that Luka is far more valuable than Gianni at this point due to mainly the age difference. This is mainly for a team looking more at the long haul than a short term solution.
Short term 1-3 yr solution they are probably pretty even, long term 4-10 year goes to Luka

Edit

You tube video from this link doesn't show, but a new one out titled

Mavs Mock Draft: Will There Be A Future Star Still Available At Pick 9? | Shan & RJ

He didn’t carry that Mavs team. To say he carried them is not acknowledging how Pj, Lively and Gafford saved him defensively and how good Kyrie was against Wolves. Luka was great too. But he didn’t “carry” them everyone had a role.

If Giannis gets traded for a small return I’ll concede he had less value than a 26 year old Luka. I just don’t believe anyone is factoring in Giannis age. He had a solid 5 to 6 years minimum of being a star.

I hope you're right. I just don't think the Warriors have the resources to make that trade work.

What a novel concept!

Letting every team know that you are willing to trade your superstar player instead of doing a secret back room deal with only one team and getting pennies on the dollar.

If only the Mavs knew that trades could be worked out this way! The Milwaukee Bucks are revolutionaries!
:banghead:
They didn’t do a secret deal they just asked for too much. They tried to get Wemby and Ant. No one in their right mind was trading them for Luka.

In hindsight I wonder could they have traded him for Cade. Pistons probably wouldn’t have either….

Luka value could easily land Ant and some more assets. Wemby I would give the nod to, but he does have question marks when it comes to his health moving forward.

Other than one is a champion and the other will never be.
Half of this is true.

And the other half is a made up opinion.

And neither have any affect on 26 year old Luka being a more desirable asset than 31 year old Giannis.

Mavs pretty much did do a secret deal. Utah was a part of it and didn't even know who was being traded until it was announced to the league. Only 2 people in the Mavs organization knew of the trade prior to the official announcement which was Nico and the Owner. Not even Mark Cuban knew about it

Nico and the Lakers (Rob Pelinka) made the deal while at a meeting in LA during dinner.

They honestly don’t have much unless they absolutely sell out their draft picks for the next 5-6 years.

In fairness, Wiseman wasn’t much of a trade chip, but they did flub on the way they sat on Kuminga for so long sinking his value.
