2025-26 NBA Season

They traded AD for Middleton, Bagley and AJ Johnson and a late first round pick.

Do I even watch Mavs games? What?

I saw Bagley play well.
AJ Johnson was up and down.
First round pick is the 30 th pick.

AJ Johnson is 20, Bagley 27…what did I say was wrong to warrant you to ask if I watch games? Yes Middleton played but he’s not “young”. He was a contract situation.
It's very clear that the Spurs did the right thing (trading away the vets) when they landed Wemby. In contrast the Mavs blew their opportunity at landing a better draft pick this season.

It's possible that not having the FO setup during (early)/before the season will come back to haunt them.

It was also a huge mistake to go into the season w/o having that established.

You’re comparing pre generational talent to after drafting generational talent lol. Spurs have never been that bad since getting Wemby. You’re comparing two different situations….why? I don’t know. You are worked up over tanking as if it guarantees you a top pick. It’s just odd. But you’re in your mourning stage. At some point you will realize what’s done is done and nothing we can do to change it. Have at it.

Looks like you don't get the point. I stated that the Spurs tanked/rebuilt by being smart and trading away their vets for younger players. That's called *ethical tanking.* On the other hand, the Mavs messed up this years ethical tank by trading for vets in a contract year and playing them full time. If you think that didn't make a difference in the draft selection you're nothing but a troll at this point.

What you don’t get is it’s not the same thing. I’ve tried being patient but you keep calling me a troll and not getting your point. I get your point I just don’t agree. And that’s ok. Here we can disagree.

Your argument is they should do “ethical tanking” like the Spurs did to get Wemby. I’m trying to get you to understand when you are developing a generational talent you are concerned with developing them. Spurs couldn’t do “ethical tanking” with Wemby. The year they got Harper they weren’t tanking they were actively trying to win just like Mavs and Sixers. All 3 ended up top
3.

The Mavs didn’t do “ethical taking”. Ok. They found out they might have a nice piece in Bagley who played incredible and is only 27.

And btw, if you think the Mavs were winning because of Middleton and Bagley….ill
Be nice and say I disagree lol.

And also I love what the Spurs have built. Model culture for winning. I don’t believe they did a “ethical tank”. They were gonna be bad regardless they were smart to get draft picks for vets like Derrick White.

They are the one team that had a shot to take down this Thunder dynasty. Deserve credit.

What you seem to not understand is that ethical tanking is an actual thing. You also stated that the Spurs didn't tank for Wemby in which they did. That was the main point I was hitting home with.

The argument also got into a compare and contrast in which I mentioned the Spurs actually played it out smarter and this was due to the ownership side of the Mavs not having a FO in place prior to and early during the season.

If the current FO was established at that point they more than likely wouldn't have traded for the 2 vets ( expiring contracts) and or have them benched for the season.. The Grizz traded for Jaren Jackson Jr and benched him after his 1st game.

Edit: It might have actually been best for the Mavs to have kept AD for the year (Traded him the next year, or kept him) and had him benched last season. That would have been more ethical due to his injury

They wanted Wemby and everyone knew it. They traded their vets for young players because vets could/would equal more wins. It's an easy thing to see

They have 1std because you can’t go two years without a pick. They are just pick swaps and they are inferior to those teams they pick swap with so it’s looking like late 1st rounders.

Thank you for explaining . Yes even by 29 when LeBron is gone they have Luca so I assume the pick will be inferior to Dallas but hopefully it’s in the teens .

The main problem is that the Mavs could've had better picks and hoping that pick turns into a top 10-15 pick is wishing. Lakers wouldn't have offered or accepted that pick if they thought it would be a top 10-15. The pretty much fleeced the Mavs.

Edit: Jazz traded for Jaren Jackson Jr after the trade from the Grizz. He was benched after the 1st game with the Jazz

Guess you really didn't watch those games. If you think Middleton and Bagley didn't have any major impact with some wins you didn't watch those games, and or don't care.

They don't have a "nice piece in Bagley." He's a FA this year that was playing for a contract.

Edit: This was from your mention "Ok. They found out they might have a nice piece in Bagley who played incredible and is only 27"

Bad trade terrible and he got fired. The new set running things now seem to be a better improved duo and with the 9th pick won’t take long to see . I’m hoping for the Arizona G

I hope that mock is wrong . Flemings shot 38 % last year . WNBA #’s . And he’s got Burries the G I’m hoping Dallas gets going to the Warriors to help Curry out .

Yeah sucks because they know they don’t have a pick so they are gonna go all in lol. Not sure with what trade bait if Lebron leaves or retires.

I’m saying in 2026 Middleton and Bagley aren’t winning you games and if they are then you may need to keep them.

The last game against Chicago that you swear we tried to win….

Flagg 10 minutes
Middleton 6 minutes
Bagley dnp

Tyler Smith 37 minutes

Cisse 41 minutes

Poulakidas 38 minutes

But you’re questioning if I saw the games?

Yeah everyone wanted Wemby lol. They sucked and got him.
True to everyone wanting Wemby, but not everyone was in that position.

Some other teams probably also attempted a tank and or ethical tank to land Wemby. It just worked out better for the Spurs.
