all the reason in the world not to consider a RB til 3rd round or later
Agreed but we can’t get to cute like we did the last couple of years or you end up with a Deuce in the 6th round or a Zeke in free agency because you are desperate and cheap.

Hard to pass on Jeanty and even harder to pass on Johnson and Hampton in the 2nd, but if they do, they better get lucky and get Henderson in the 3rd.
Henderson is going in the second. He is just so explosive. I think he is faster then Jeanty but his durability is in question.

I hope we make a point of it in the future to make sure we try and avoid players with significant injury history

We should take two in this draft. Our quarterbacks need to be protected by a running game.
But Jerry will probably opt to sign free agents after the draft. :(
If they did go with 2 backs this draft I like the combos of
Kaleb Johnson, Iowa in the 2nd and Lan Larison UC Davis in the 6th
or
TreVeyon Hendersen, Ohio State in the 3rd and Damien Martinez in the 5th

I would stay away from him personally because I don’t want us drafting a hurt player either but that is football. You have to take chances. Everything just seems to blow up on us though lately.

I see no reason for him not declaring unless he gets a lot more money at Penn State.
Hard to say... if he does return to school, and takes over that lead back role. He could really help his draft stock next year. Maybe, pushing towards a 2nd rounder if his production doesn't fall off. We will find out in a week or two.

I want the cream of the crop.
Give me Jeanty or Hampton.
This team isn't passing their way to a Super Bowl.
The offense is screwed b/c we are stuck with Dak and he can't move in the pocket anymore. Defenses will just load up against the run. The only path forward here is defense. We need an elite defense.

After Jeanty I see about a million dudes lumped into a similar area.

Johnson and Hampton are RB 2/3 on most sites but I don’t see much of a difference between them and the next guys. Neither appear to have long speed or a lot of lateral agility to make people miss I would it take either in the 2nd.

Take advantage of the loaded class and draft a similar player a round or 2 later.

Defenses have been loading up against the run on Jeanty all season. And even when he faced Penn States outstanding defense he still had good numbers. He was the second RB all season to go over 100 yards against them.
I also agree with your statement about defense also.
And a great RB improves Dak as well.

this is the only way. Only a few of us believe this. Unfortunately Jerry doesnt believe it. Nick bolton should be here first day of free agency but of course he wont.

Oh common man. He was completely shut down. He needed 30 carries to break 100 yards for a meager 3.5 ypc. We cut Zeke for that kind of production years ago. He fumbled twice. That game didn’t help his draft stock at all and it makes you wonder how many yards he would have if he played in a power conference instead of running against Mountain West cupcakes all year.

He would be a starter on most SEC teams. Talent doesn't disappear just because you play in weak conferences.
The NFL is full of great players from non power conferences.
