2026 - 2027 Draft Picks 12 and 20

So get clever and try and trade Up (get the Defensive 1st Rd graded player, whom Jeremiah is predicting will be gone) and Down for defensive quantity. A possibility is .....

NO Get

- 12th overall
- 20th overall
-178th (rd 5)

We get:
-8th overall
- 42nd (rd 2)
-73rd (rd 3)

Saints are in a Shough 'Show Me' year..... if we can trade them next years 1stRd pick they'd love it, as they will possibly need the Capital for a QB.
I like your trade. At #8 I'm guessing we could land either Bailey or Downs (doubt either are available at #12). Also, I'm not positive we can make the best out of #20. Your trade could yield us:

#8. Bailey - Edge (OR) Downs - S
#42. Thieneman - S (OR) Hill - LB
#72. Jadrian Price - RB (OR) Scott - CB

I think they are ok at RB right now. If they did move up, I'd want a LB or CB with that 72nd pick.

PS- I'd love Bailey or Downs for certain!

Onevthing about having a stable GM is that you dont have to produce immediately. We could use that to trade into next year for extra picks. But we've never taken advantage.

Cheers, and as you put it, we come out of it with a choice of 1st Rd Grade talent at #8, either of which most of us would be running in the pick for.
Our problem is that the: Chiefs (9th)could draft anyone (inc. the BPA, which would be Downs at 9), Bengals (10th) (will (most likely) draft an Edge (with loss of Hendrickson) and the Dolphins (11th) are continually mocked to take a CB.
Waiting, may not be an option, because of the defensive needs imo

The issue is if you are dead set on taking defense and majority of the previous picks are defensive players. Do you take a defensive player that isn’t high enough grade for pick 12 or do you take an offensive player? Or do you trade back?
I'm a big fan of BPA but Dallas is starting look really lopsided, good to great offense with an awful to possibly worst defense in the nfl. I'm not sure we have a choice this year. I really hope we get a corner.

The more I think about it, if the Cowboys can find willing trade partners, I would try to move down from both 12 and 20. Maybe get two picks in the 20's while getting back into the 2nd and 3rd rounds in the process.

Walking out of the first two days of the draft with four players instead of two.
No, top 12 picks tend to be elite unless the team makes a really dumb pick.

Trade down from 20 to late 1st. There will some player at 20 that a team really wants.

Not sure why this was unstixkied but it has our picks and the draft value chart
