New kick off rule may make Turpin even more dangerous.

Sam Williams is as good as gone if he doesn’t step up. He better stay healthy or he might not make the team. We just used a 2nd on a pass rusher.

Yes, many of these players need to step up. That is what they are counting on. Which is part of the reason they do not overspend in FA.
Thy rely upon the draft. Possibly a bit too much.
But they did have a better mix of that they did in the past, not rely solely on the draft for running back ,

they brought in Sanders and Williams... But then I'll have to decide on the two draft picks and then Hunter and Vaughn. So you have existing players drafted players and free agents I think they can find some starters in that group same with the linebackers same with the offensive line same with the quarterbacks.

I see a much different offseason especially than last year....

Pretty much every level you see small trades free agents and draft and existing players that are now being counted on more in year 2 or three I don't see where they're just relying on the total draft for this year's success..

There's too many names to list but every level they brought in multiple players from the draft and free agency this year plus some second 3rd year players along the offensive line linebacker running back wide receiver I mean outside of safety I think they've done that on every level of this team this offseason is why people are more impressed this year than they've been in a while...

Good mix of all the above approach;

WR- Lamb #1 starter, Pickens- big trade, Tolbert and Turpin round out the 4 existing that will get play time but not heavily on, Mingo& Flournoy hopeful projects , but Holden UNDFA and Cambell FA

QB Dak- Trade for Milton -Greir FA Vet

OL- Smith-BB-Booker should be solidified middle with hopes of Steele, now a Vet, turns corner, and Guyton yes, a young player they hope take leap but have options in Richards and some FAS brought in.. but Hoffmann being a swing G/C now instead of starter is gravy Bass an option of depth with Jones etc..

TE- Ferguson needs to return to form or meet expectations Schoon solid backup, but they still have Ford and Stevens and Fant I believe nothing exciting about the TES should be covered

RBs-2 Fas in williams and sanders, rookies Mafah and Blue along with Hunter and what happens with Vaugn..

DE- Parsons and Fowler clear vet starters but one was here one a strong FA, Turner a FA , Kneeland a 2nd year Williams in prove it year in year 4? and EZE maybe a steal in the draft..

DT Osa resigned as strong current player - backup FA Thomas - Mazi prove it year but 2 drafted players and 2nd year player to push them in Rogers..

S- Every one of them being on our team the last three seasons or more it's the only untouched position I think but they did resign Bell and Thomas...

CB-Bland now VET- Diggs recovering VET- Trade for Elam - 2nd year in Bulter and Carson TBD -Revel potential steal of the draft..

And then the coaching staff completely revamped.

I say this offseason they did a pretty dang good job of solid free agents some bargain free agents some real BPA in the draft that could be steals some surprises to add to some young veteran core players that were left at those positions I see this as a big mix of all those things this year they're not just relying on the draft alone....

Yes I realized Guyton probably the biggest question mark Plus this year's draft pick and Revel and maybe blue they might have higher expectations they hope they come along faster but this just feels different..

I don't know why it just does and I'm not saying it's our year but when all you were fed last year was saltines and water,

when they're offering you a DR. Pepper and a Ritz cracker, it just feels better..lol.

I mean, I prefer Rare Rib Eye a nice bottle of red wine, with cheese cake to finish,

but it could turn into that, but I'll start with it being in improved over last year.

Maybe that's the Mirage, we're still getting crackers, but we're just getting upgraded crackers and an upgraded drink... :muttley: :lmao: ;)

Still on his rookie deal. He isn't going anywhere.

Out of all those players Mazi is the one I'm most disappointed in. I hope they do go after DJ Reader.
It's only disappointing if one of the two draft picks or say Rogers who's here ,aren't better if any one of these can end up taking a starting role ,than it doesn't matter, because now we're only counting on him to be the backup to have rotational player ,

a lot of the Times nose tackles and run stop type gap players, they're rotated in they shared with 2 -3 players, it won't be as glaring of a hole if Mazis the 2nd or 3rd one in..

I believe that's two years in a row, I can't remember what round Kneeland went in or Eazy E but round 2 i beklieve both went in.

, and we also have Fowler.

But I have faith in Sam Williams I know people don't, but this dude has got untapped potential, he still has one of the best steps, the 1st step off the line, his speed is very close to parsons and Overshown,

He has that motor, the problem is he doesn't know when to stop, he can't pull up.. I mean he almost blacks out trying to tackle the kicker punter and quarterback...

If he can figure out how to pull back just a little bit he's going to be a great player.. I just don't know if he can I mean people call him a knucklehead but this dude is as athletic as those other guys I know people are excited over easy E but I see that get off in Sam Williams...

The injury didn't help, and I realized his off-field couple of little infractions didn't help he got in the doghouse but he's one of those players you don't want to give up on because athletically, he's elite... It's just mentally he has to figure out control...

The Cowboys have cut many players on their rookie deal. Taco got cut on his rookie deal and was a first round pick. I’m not saying Williams will be cut but he’s on the bubble due to up and down play and off the field issues. Plus availability has been an issue with him. His replacement has been drafted so he’ll be in a battle.

Coach Shotty on Luepke

I'd be remiss for not talking about Hunter Luepke," Schottenheimer told reporters on Tuesday. "He's playing some (running back) for us, he's playing some fullback, he's playing some tight end, and all he does is do everything well."

It's a simple message one but an important one for Luepke. He will likely not take on a lead running back role on the team but his snap count could see a bump in Year 3 of his career.

I agree, Jimbo, but IMO we also need our elites or money players to be more consistent week in and week out.

are you trying to tell me, thats players gotta be good? or do their jobs well?

well, blow me down i am shocked. i thought the purpose was to just waste a roster space.
