I don't think it's a huge reach, likely would have been gone by mid 3rd so he doesn't make it to our next pick anyways...when you are picking bottom of round you have to take players a bit early sometimes but it wasn't a reach.HUGE reach....
Not a good second round pick, i dont get it
Well that "projected first round pick' didn't get taken until the 28th pick of the second round. The simple truth is Torrence is FAR overvalued in here.this is the stupidest pick they made, a big foolishness to pass on Torrence to select an average TE, to pass on a player that was a projected first round pick, no matter how much they say the characteristics of this TE there is no justification to have passed on Torrence, with Torrence this draft would have been much better.
No one is surprised.HUGE reach....

When Torrence was drafted, both Reddick and Kiper stated he was a RG only. Phone booth type of player with heavy feet and limited lateral movement to get to the second level. Pure power running scheme player. If so, he is not a fit here.Well that "projected first round pick' didn't get taken until the 28th pick of the second round. This isn't an average TE at all. Whoever called him that? I didn't read or hear that one time this weekend.
The bottom line is the Cowboy drafted Schoonmaker over Torrence for a reason. They very clearly liked the TE better.
Like..he's not a good football player. He's a jag.
I'm old enough to remember when Dalton Schultz was billed as the run blocking TE the Cowboys needed.Nice!!! Best blocking TE in the draft and in his prime at 24 years of age! Leggo COWBOYS

Good times.
Not working on his blocking almost ended Schultz's career.Me too and it was one of the biggest reasons I wasn't sad to see him go. He could have and should have been a better blocker. It appeared he worked diligently on his receiving game, but neglected becoming a better blocker. It's not a terrible decision, as the flash is what gets TEs paid. Of course I don't know this, he could've just been a poor blocker all along. Either way he wasn't dynamic enough to suck so bad at blocking.

His blocking was a thorough disappointment, and I think it was the end of camp his third year when there was serious talk about simply cutting him.
Meanwhile, Rico probably has an NFL career if he diligently worked at his blocking. Big, strong, long, soft hands. Everything he needed to be a quality blocking TE. Except the humility to do the grunt work for a less flashy role.
TEs are often made by circumstance, like WR#2s. They're outlet receivers. If you've got good players ahead of you, like Cooper and Lamb, teams will focus resources on them, and leave you relatively free.He was fortunate to be in the perfect spot to have targets funneled to him and that was his saving grace. I'm not saying he isn't good at what he does, but it helped being Daks safety valve.
