3/12 on third downs. 25% efficiency!

The game last night was embarrassing all the way around. Not only did it look like the same ol' Cowboys, it looked worse to me. I was pretty shocked. The Rams looked really good and ready to go and I hardly recognized any of their players from their SB team a couple years ago. What has this coaching staff been doing? Not impressed at all. Might be a long season.

I agree 100%. Either open up the offense and get explosive of stay with this ball control game and start converting 3rd downs. Otherwise 8-8 is the best we can hope for.
Its going to take an entire off season to get the WCO timing down.

Eh, it's more representative of failures on first and second down. Not that that's better, but your third-down offense will always be bad when you need 8, 9, 10 yards.

All Dallas 3rd Downs

1st QUARTER

3rd & 16 @ DAL 48 Incomplete Pass (Led to Dallas Punt)

3rd & 1 @ DAL 43 Elliott runs for 4 yards (Led to Dallas TD)

2nd QUARTER

3rd & 3 @ DAL 32 Prescott runs for 6 yards

3rd & 7 @ LA 35 Incomplete Pass (Led to missed 53-yard FG)

3rd QUARTER

3rd & 10 @ DAL 44 Completed 11 yard pass

3rd & 4 @ LA 39 Prescott sacked for -8 yards (Led to Dallas punt)

3rd & 9 @ DAL 39 Incomplete Pass (Led to Dallas punt)

3rd & 6 @ LA 15 Incomplete Pass (Led to Dallas 33-yard FG)

3rd & 6 @ LA 14 Elliott runs for 3 yards (Led to failed 4th & 3 Prescott passed for 2 yards)

4th QUARTER

3rd & 5 @ DAL 17 Incomplete Pass (Led to Dallas punt)

3rd & 13 @ DAL 18 Prescott runs for 12 yards (Led to 4th & 1; Elliott runs for 4 yards)

3rd & 20 @ DAL 34 Incomplete Pass (Led to 4th & 20; Incomplete Pass)

Average 3rd down conversion needed was 8.3 yards.

4 of the 12 3rd downs were within LA territory and of those 4 3rd downs within LA territory Dallas failed on ALL 4 of them and came away with only 3 points as a result.

One :"drop" was thrown at the ankles of the receiver and behind so uncatchable over the middle. Why am I not shocked at that?
Schultz dropped 2 on third down. Cooper also drop 1 or 2.
The one pass hit him in the hip. You have to catch that.....or at least see it coming.

We don't have a TE with Schultz. We need to trade for OJ Howard.

Third down passing. 1 for 7, 11 yards, one sack.

That stats means that when you pressure Prescott and take away his running game, he folds like a wet taco.

3rd down efficiency and continued issues in the RZ. Play-calling and execution were both mediocre last night.

17 points with those skill position players?!?! Houston— we have a problem.

Lack of imagination? Yup. Zero creativity? Yup. Stubbornness and refusal to adjust or adapt during the game? Yup.

You can Garrett out of Dallas— but getting the Garrett-stank off this OC and QB is a whole other matter apparently.

I don't know about any of this. I mean, I think we would need to break down the 22 before we do anything. I watched the game, like everybody, but I really didn't pay close attention to exactly how the plays were designed and what did and, more importantly, didn't happen. There is a lot that you don't see until you actually break down the plays.

only 3 points in the second half? Really.......with those WRs? Come-on-man.

This makes sense, and would go a long way to explain why there was nothing open deep.

If they're just playing cover-3 and 4, sitting over the top, there aren't really any shots to take.

I thought that was what we were gonna see from McCarthy apparently not.
Moore is calling the plays.

Remember..

McCarthy said it would be easier to let Moore call the plays as McCarthy wanted it for Dak and the offense to be easier to understand.

I just have not understood it from the start.

What I am understanding is that McCarthy does use mis-direction in his statements.

Just not in his plahcalling.

Interesting.
