3-4 defense and the new coordinator

Clowney needs to be re-signed first. He can sign with anyone now. He is a natural 3-4 OLB. The problem is that we don't have a legit 3-4 NT. That needs to be a 340 lb behemoth in the middle. I guess Clark is the closest we got. Overshown bc of his skinny lower body doesn't really fit any 3-4 mold. Can't put him on the DL with his hand in the dirt. My guess is that he would be put at OLB for lack of a better spot.

Didn't Clarke make his mark as a 3-4 NT in the Packers 3-4 scheme (including a pro bowl) in Green Bay ?

Agreed. Overshown physically isn't prototype mold for middle LB, but as he's a bonafide playmaker (whenever healthy) we have to try to scheme him
as much as possible.
Above is an example of smallish LBs in 3-4 like/base schemes.

I'm far more worried about Mo's durability issues than his smallish size.

LOL, excellent point. They couldn't even put 2 competent/capable LBs on the damn field, now were going to play a 3-4?
I have a hard time believing they are going to use both 1st Round picks on LBs. So the team with one of the worst linebacker groups in the league is going to now start 4. C'mon

It’s not an excellent point. Really you’re going to use fewer traditional off ball LBs in a 3-4. In a 3-4 your base defense really has two true LBs where a 4-3 used 3 of them.
