There inaction on DT is as bad as their inaction at RB. At least at RB we know we have a guy who use to do it (can't do it at that level any longer). We have no idea if Mazi is an NFL player. Not much outside of Osa. Heck, we may not have a real NFL player at DT besides Osa. Just disgraceful. I wasn't even looking for a stud. A solid journeyman placeholder would do.

Tyron can't be replaced.
This is the same player everyone was worried sick about a year ago because he was a part time player and was an injury waiting to happen and couldn't be counted on. Most were ready to move on from him and use his salary somewhere else. Suddenly he can't be replaced?

We don't know Cooper can walk right in and start at a position he has very limited experience at.
We don't know that he can't either. But he can and will. I'd be completely shocked if he isn't a better starter than Biadiaz week one vs Cleveland.

You are 100% correct. He will not be missed by week 6. After Guyton has settled in and Tyron is on IR.

I agree on both counts. DQ would've done exactly like you said, just like he did with Mazi.
Hopefully Zimmer won't pull a Quinn.
It makes zero sense to draft a true 1T with your first overall pick and perform a drastic biological change on the Mazi, lets drop 40 lbs Maz..
We will transform you into the best 3T in the game.... brilliant.

We had a Pro Bowl center with some flaws, and didn't address the position in FA. It looks like they may have gotten lucky with Cooper. I truly hope Tyler Guyton develops quickly. He will be a downgrade from Tyron early, but has the tools to develop into an elite player. What did they do to insure themselves if Guyton isn't ready?

Hankins was average. Mazi was awful. Nothing was done to address the position.

Armstrong would've fit the scheme. He was a solid role player. Fowler, you may be right. How does Sam Williams fit in? Has his run defense improved substantially since college? We don't know because of his limited snap count. Will the rookie be any good? I think so, but not super confident if he's forced to play a significant amount of snaps.

The complaint isn't that some players were let go. The issue is important positions like RB and DT were completely ignored. Stopping the run and establishing a ground game has always been the recipe for success, and it's looking like they will have a difficult time with both this season. This team is loaded with talent, but it's destined for mediocrity if these positions aren't addressed before the season starts.
You can never have guarantees at every position, every decision, it's just how the game is played now, you have to have an excellent scouting dept, and be able to churn a roster all the time.
Look around the entire leagues rosters and lets talk about player to player, mano y mano comparisons at every position from any team,, would make for a very interesting 300 page thread for anyone that want to post the notion.

Also, for me lack of moves at DT just continues the pattern of neglect for the position.

This team just does not invest enough resources there-- not in line at all with what strong playoff teams are doing.
And, to add, they have no idea what makes DT's successful.

What we did to Felix was a crime against football.

We don't know Cooper can walk right in and start at a position he has very limited experience at. I think he can, but I'm not sold. As I said, we were incredibly fortunate that he fell. He should've been gone in the second. That's luck, not great roster management.

Tyron can't be replaced. Bringing in someone serviceable with the intention of drafting a long term replacement should've been the move. Half right is better than completely wrong, I guess. Guyton will also be switching sides. There's no guarantee of a smooth transition.

So we're looking at a pair of unknowns starting on the line. I'm not worried so much about center. If Cooper can snap the ball, being flanked by Smith and Martin helps a ton. Left tackle is troubling. I'm a Sooner fan. Guyton was a good player in college, but there were very few occasions watching the games where I thought, "holy crap, that guy is a future pro bowler". He has the tools, the frame, and the pedigree. He doesn't have the experience you want from a guy walking into protecting Dak's blindside as a rookie.

You keep wondering why fans like me have concerns. This is why. I don't have faith that this team can fall back on its depth and rookie class to fill the void left by the loss of several key contributors. I hope they prove me wrong, and maybe they will.
Tyron was an unknown at best. We had no idea if he was going to play from week to week.

What we did know was he could not practice at all.

Slow and stiff!

He’s the proverbial “trash can full of dirt”!
Hey, if the will at least make the RB choose a side to go around him it's a big improvement. Ours have either been pushed off the ball so far or allowed to rush up field that the RB's don't even have to make choices.

And when he played he was ALL PRO
so many want to ignore that
At best we are going to have a LT that will probably play league average and maybe better to start out
HUGE downgrade no matter how some try and claim otherwise

TB was a gamer but he just lacked the oomph to handle immediate strength. They could just over power him completely or enough to get on his shoulders.

I know nothing about the young'uns but if they have the natural strength to hold the point of attack they will be an upgrade IMO even if they aren't as good on the move.

It is hard to be all pro on the sidelines. He barely made it to the field each week. Then had take the next 6 days off to recover.

Sure played a lot last year didn't he? Kind of makes your argument pretty weak.
ARE you somehow claiming we are going to get better LT play this year? Or even as good?
