I've said this a millions times before so I guess one more time won't hurt.

You do know the Dallas Cowbys played football before 1990 don't you? I realize that was before you were born. But still.......

He also has been noted for saying Irvin was better than Rice so...........when asked if he had ever seen Rice play the response was, "a couple of times".

Is what it is my friend.

Can't really answer this fairly. My appreciation for certain Cowboys has changed over the years.

For example.. Emmitt was far and away my favorite Cowboy for a long time. I got misty-eyed when he broke that rushing record. But since he went to the Cardinals and to the media, he does nothing but annoy me.

I also was a fan of Irvin, but didn't become that big a fan of his until we didn't have him anymore. And when I catch those 90's Cowboys high lights and I see his play, I'm blown away with his intensity, physicality (sp?) and his passion. I'd now say he was my favorite player of that era.

The most interesting thing about this thread is that you can tell when a lot of these people became Cowboys fans, or how old they are now.

A few years back I could have easily answered Randy White, Irvin and Tony Tolbert (a rock with vastly underrated postseason performances).

I love many of our current guys including Romo, Ware and Witten.

Out of those 6, I guess I take.....uhhhh...

1-Irvin
2-Romo
3-Randy White

4-Witten
5-Ware

6-Tolbert

Tolbert is not top 5 for me anymore, but any of those top 5 could be rearranged for me. Irvin is the only one in my group that would be considered kind of a punk (not what I usually like), but he was truly the heart and soul of that dynasty and that cannot be ignored regardless of his off field antics.

That's like asking a starving kid to walk in a pastry shop and pick out his three favorite pastries:lmao:

That's funny, but his list actually impressed me. He has shown his age with many of his comments (the Jerry Rice stuff), but 4 of his top 5 are in my top 5. He has Aikman and I have R. White (no shame in Aikman in top 5). I've been watching the Cowboys for over 30 years (I'm 38) and for this kid to come up with a very similar list is surprising. Of course, I have been accused of being very immature at times...:D

16, and forever. Although I didn't start watching regularly until I was 5 (the 98 season)

From that era, which is the one I grew up watching, I'd have to go with Irvin on offense and Woodson on defense. Both guys are the sort of intense leaders you need leading your unit.

I don't like everything Irvin does off the field, but on the field the guy was a complete beast.

I'll just keep it to guys I was old enough to actually watch during thier careers.

1. Tony Dorsett. I just idolized this guy as a kid. I met him once too when I was 12. I literally couldn't speak.

2. Aikman. He just personifies QB to me. Big, Strong, mentally tough. By all accounts, just a great person. Also met him once, and he was MUCH bigger than you expect him to be. Enormous hands too.

3. Bill Bates. I just love what the guy stood for. Not the biggest, fastest, or most athletic. But he wouldn't back down from anyone and just willed himself to stay in the league and be productive. There is nobody else I'd love to see enshrined in the Ring of Honor than Bill Bates.

Geez dude, you need to get a grip. One, it's very hard to have someone you've never watched play be your favorite player. I'm sure Dorsett, Roger, Manster, Lilly, and crew were all fantastic players, but I've only seen them in highlights. You know who I did see? Aikman, Smith, Irvin, Allen, and Woodson. So it very much stands to reason they are going to be the players I deem as my favorite. Also, the thread is specifically about peoples favorite players, for you to suggest that someone picking all players from one era as thier favorite is some how bad....its just beyond idiotic. You're older than me, congrats! Get a freakin life, I'll pick whoever I want as my favorites, and your opinion on who my favorites are, or should be, means less than nothing.
