Why can’t you only have 2 QBs on the 53 and put the third (Rush) on the PS?

The only way they don't carry 3 is if someone gives them an attractive offer for rush that they can't pass up. But I dont see that happening.
They will keep three regardless. Even if a team wants Rush, Lance is nowhere near ready for #2……I suspect Grier would fill that role or a QB who is cut.

I thought there was a recent clause that the 3rd QB didn't count. Guess I'm wrong.

He'll count against the 53, but not against the 48 game day actives. So he'll be the 49th player dressed.

We've always had 3 QBs on the 53 under MM as the HC.

You can cut Rush and Grier and it's almost 100 percent nobody picks them up and one of them can be the emergency 3rd QB

So you want Lance to be QB2?
You gave up a 4th round pick to get him. Didn’t think you did that for him to pat Cooper Rush’s butt when he comes back from the field. And, as I recall, you guys do quite well drafting 4th round picks. (Actually, quite well on every round, but since Lance cost you a 4th, I will limit the discussion to that.)

Plus he can't play in the first 3 quarters unless both QBs are injured. Not sure if he can come in in the 4th for mop up duty without an injury though?
The extra quarterback can come in if the two QBs on the 48 man game roster are injured and cannot play, or have been ejected and therefore cannot play. The 3rd QB is otherwise ineligible. If he is used, obviously QB1 and QB2 may not re-enter the game under any circumstance. It can happen in any quarter. But cannot come in just for “mop up duty”.

Thanks.. One of the sites I was reading mentioned something about the first 3 quarters so it got a little confusing. To add.. if one of the injured QBs is at any point cleared to return, the emergency QB must exit.

Wrong about QB1 OR QB2 can't re-enter game.

If either QB1 OR QB2 are medically cleared to return to the game, the emergency QB (QB3) must be removed from the contest (only to return if the first two QBs are again made unavailable due to injury).

That makes no sense. The emergency QB HAS to be on the 53 man roster and can not be elevated from the practice squad
