Not really because the OL is much worse than it was back then. We actually managed to keep Bledsoe upright. It has been slowly deteriorating each year as these guys got older and older. They were still pretty good in 2007 overall in pass protection. They were downright horrific at times this year and last year protecting Romo.

Garrett should get the genius label for managing to get a top 10 rushing attack out of these guys. I hope it also makes the FO appreciate Felix more for his ability to put up over 6 ypc and break several long runs. Outside of Chris Johnson I wonder how many backs had more big runs of more than 20 yards than Felix last year.

I don't know about that. I don't remember that line being all that great. It had Rivera at guard which was probably equivalent to having Proctor at that position.

That line gave up 37 sacks.

Petiti and Tucker will usually spell doom for any QB, mobile or not.

Bleedslow and Testaverde were statues back there and fumbled many a game away. No, Romo makes this O-line look better with his duck and dive...

Garrett on the other hand... I just haven't been able to wrap my hands around why he irks me. One game he calls a masterpiece.. the next he panics and forgets he has a multitude of weapons at his disposal. The word nowadays is consistency. I would love to see Red "consistently" progress upwards. I'm not a big fan of his OC career looking like one big Wall Street stock. More peaks.. Less valleys please.

Well said. I feel the same way. It's infuriating/mindboggling to watch at times. He has called some great games and then there are times when he appears to be absolutely stubborn or clueless. Hopefully, experience will minimize future valleys.

Of those 37 sacks, how many were on Bledsoe vs. Romo? I bet it was almost an even split even though Romo played many more games. I remember Romo being able to drop back and not be harassed all that much. This is a far cry from the last two years of pass protection.

Rivera wasn't that bad in pass protection until his disc went for the second time. However, he was a horrid run blocker and that line wasn't a particularly good run blocking line. Flo and Colombo were quite a bit better that year.

I just can't agree that the 2006 line was better. I think a lot of people are under the impression that the OL was Minnesota game bad all season and that is just not true.

That doesn't change the fact that Dallas needs fresh blood because they do. Minny was an example of that with Adams breaking down and Proctor playing on 1 leg.

It wasn't that bad all season but Romo got sacked more this year than ever before even though we made a point of shortening up the routes to decrease the hits Romo takes. This was the worst Flo has been without an extenuating injury - he is very close to the end of his career. Kosier was getting manhandled way too much against larger DTs. Leonard Davis is regularly whiffing out there. Colombo was regularly giving up pressure even if he wasn't giving up many sacks (until the Minnesota game). We couldn't pick up a single yard against multiple defenses late in the year.

This is a below average OL that is regressing due to age. It needs an injection of youth and athleticism.

I agree. Here's to getting that injection this offseason.

If the offensive line improves, it will be eerily coincidental on how much better a coordinator Garrett becomes.

RW11 is not going anywhere before the END of the 2010 season.

Carpenter is performing well in his assigned task. I'd like to see more out of the guy, like for him to challenge one of the starting inside spots, but that isn't likely to happen.

No one complained of the offensive line until the vikings game. They had a bad game. Garrett has made multiple bad play calls.

We badly need to start hitting on some OL picks. The more we make and the higher we make them, the better our chances of finding success.

I wouldn't be surprised if we dip in the FA market for either a guard or a RT so we are more free to "draft BPA". The only problem is the FA market will be more barren than usual because of the 6-year FA rule in an uncapped league.

This is absolutely not true. If you were paying attention, many of us were commenting on their ineffectiveness all-year long. The biggest weakness was blitz pickup by far but most of us knew that this wasn't a great line by any stretch of the imagination.

I am jumping in here late and didnt read all 7 pages, but if anybody thinks Jerry is going to let his golden boy walk out the door, they are certifiable.

Why do you guys think Jerry only gave Wade a 2yr and kept saying over and over that "the urgency is now" for Wade to win???

The reason Wade got an extension is that Garrett is not ready to be HC just yet, he needs more OTJT. Also, dont think it is just a coincidence that Garrett has exactly 2 more years left on his contract also.

It couldnt be more obvious guys, Garrett has been promised the job and Wade is just keeping the seat warm.
