By week 6 you will look at that schedule and say... boy, I thought team X was going to be a really tough game, but they arent nearly as good as I thought they were going to be.

If anything, you can call it "bad luck."

Me, I don't mind the difficult schedule. A tough schedule builds a team up to be playoff ready. If you could not make it out of the regular season, you probably were not good enough to win the Super Bowl.
Yep....every year.

I mean several things remain the same 95% of the time and were predicted before the schedule release.

- Start the year on the road
- Finish the season on the road in Washington
- Early Bye Week
- Brutal last four games with 3 of 4 on the road

It may not be every year, but over time I would say this is the majority.

People complain about the Giants 7 of 9 on the road. But I would take that. We start 4 of 6 on the road (which is crappy), followed by an early bye week (also crappy) and yet still end the season with 3 of 4 on the road against 4 potential playoff teams.

New York is home for almost a month straight 11/26 until 12/17. They also finish the final two at home. I would take their schedule over ours any day.

I don't recall ever worrying about the schedule. We don't know how good these teams will be. There will also be surprise teams both good and bad.

Who expected the NFC to be so weak last year? On top of that the NFCE played the AFCS.
Yeah, I stopped concerning myself over the schedule layout years ago.
I know we will always finish with more road games than home games. And 70% of the time we will finish on the road. Go back to 2000, and this holds true. I looked it up at one time.
Look at the patterns.

Anyway, it is hat it is. Oh, I will throw out a "complaint" here and there, such as above. But really it is kind of a joke. It is what it is.

Team just needs to be good enough to win no matter what.

The Eagles have a five-game stretch that goes Dallas-KC-Buffalo-SF-Dallas. That is brutal, unless you think we stink. I think we are damn good.
I agree it’s brutal. But their schedule sets up where they can ride momentum and split that and win the division.

They should be 6-2/5-3 heading into that stretch. Very winnable games against New England, Minnesota, Tampa, Washington, Rams. Jets / Dolphins will be a toss up. They should go 6-2, then they need to win 2 of those games and they would be 8-5 with the Giants 2X and Arizona which should get them to 11-5ish

It pretty much let’s them jump out early, ride their lead and finish with 3 straight wins

I don't mind the early bye week. Get it out of the way and go play football.
Years ago we always had the bye week in week 4 or 5, I think a few seasons it was week 3 even.

For a long time now we had the bye week around mid season. Which is great. But earlier this time, I don't mind it. More games to get on a roll and get in sync.

I prefer to have later bye weeks but we never do I’m assuming this has something to do with how our games are scheduled from prime-time to Thursday night games.

Every team benefits from a bye week regardless of what point in the season it occurs. Of course, contenders like the Cowboys would benefit the most from a late-season bye to refresh and reload before the stretch run. Unfortunately, the NFL pinned Dallas with one of the earliest rest weeks possible in Week 7.

To make matters worse, the Eagles have their bye in Week 10, the Giants wait until Week 13, while the Commanders are a Week 14 bye. All of those sound better than Week 7.

2. Difficult road schedule

While the NFL gave the Cowboys six primetime games, it didn't have the team's best interest at heart when it formulated Dallas' road schedule.

Try wrapping your mind around this, Cowboys Nation: America's Team will play the 49ers, Dolphins, Bills and Chargers all on the road. Of the five non-NFC East teams on the schedule that made the playoffs last season, only one is at home -- the Seahawks in Week 13.

1. Gauntlet from Weeks 12-16

Dallas will play the Seahawks (home), Eagles (home), Bills (road), Dolphins (road), and Lions (home) from Weeks 13-17. The fact Seattle is the easiest matchup in that gauntlet speaks to how difficult it is.

When the sun sets on the 2023 regular season, would anyone be surprised if all five of those teams were in the playoffs? The Eagles and Bills are shoo-ins, and the Dolphins have at least a 10-win roster -- assuming Tua Tagovailoa's health -- after a representative offseason.

1- if you dont feel you cant beat every team in the league why would you belong in the SB.

2- We never use care about who we played. Other teams use to care about playing us. Now people have a hissy fit cause they feel the schedule will decide our fate more than our teams ability

3- last years good teams are not guaranteed to be this years. Name the last team to win a SB because they had the weaker schedule- the playoffs usually takes care of them

4- "NFL didnt have the teams best interest at heart ". If you think they sit around concerned about every/any teams best interest theres this bridge in Brooklyn I would like to talk to you about buying shares in. Ratings are 1st ,2nd and 3rd reason. "best interest at heart" didnt make the list

we use to be the best division in the game where 3 of the 4 team either made it to the playoffs or lost out on final week. The divisions coaches were Landry, Gibbs, Coryell, Parcells and we played each twice. Most (if not all) of the losses for our division were from within own division with the point being every week was a tough game instead of gimme soft wins. Our division winner was usually the playoff SB favorite

sorry and its nothing against you- I just feel when people are whining about the schedule you dont really have a lot of faith in the team. Give me Philly, KC, Buf for 1st 3 games-lets see how good we are.

Yeah, nevermind that the Giants have a stretch of 7 of 9 games on the road after their opener which has never happened before or that the Eagles play 7 consecutive playoff teams in a row, 8 of 9 to close the season, and 11 of 17 games against playoff teams overall. Nope, the league clearly zeroed in on the Cowboys for dastardly scheduling. Lol.

Yeah, the Giants will be all but done by their bye week. Not just 7 road games in 9 weeks, but two separate trips west and a flight to Miami.

Every team has to play the schedule given to it. We play better on the road than we do at home so I’d actually prefer 17 away games. Quit crying and just watch us play.
