No, I don't. Both are correct, as I said. And M-W clearly does not prefer "gantlet" as the ordeal, given that if you search their online dictionary for "gantlet," it sends you to the entry for "gauntlet" instead: they don't even have a separate entry for "gantlet."

And a style guide's preferred usage does not mean the other is incorrect. It just means they like to maintain consistency.

The NFL cares about money first and nothing else is even close. "Fairness" is an afterthought, something that factors in for the purpose of window-dressing for the unwashed masses. Second thread I’ve seen with a fan accusing the NFL of screwing the Cowboys on the schedule. This is the first time I can remember fans claiming the league Intentionally screwed the Cowboys with the schedule. The league is finding all kinds of ways to foil the Cowboys. Lol

You have to win the east first before you can go Further. And last year we took another step winning a playoff game. To me that's not futility. I cannot play golf well. In fact if I played today, I would be lucky to break 100. But if I hold the pencil and keep score, the top 3 golfers in the world cannot beat me on their best day.

So I would ease up on “overcoming referee bias”. It really just depends on how bad the refs want to bone you on any given day. There are always enough either/or plays to make a game turn out drastically one way or the other.
