See BP below. The fast way is keep it in iTunes. go to advanced and choose mp3 in the pulldown when ripping CD's.

You get Itunes software. I actually prefer windows media player to do this.
Put your cds into the computer, rip them to your computer. Add to your Itunes library, hook up your ipod to your computer and sync the library to your computer.
However if he wants to put 300-500 cds on his computer that can be pretty time consuming ripping each cd.

This is a very good point. Its something that really bothered me when I first ripped CD's and saw that the compression sacrificed sound quality.
