As usual here, when Dak throws for 300 yards and Dallas loses, it's Dak's fault. When he throws for 250 yards and Dallas wins, Dak played a poor game and the defense won it, or Dallas played a weak team, the refs gave it to Dallas, etc. etc.
Dak could have played better, missed some throws and threw into coverage a couple of times, where he could have (or should have) been intercepted.
Today Mr. "Turnover machine" Dak had 0 ints but only 2 tds and 255 yards even with 31 completions. And still gets ripped for "playing horribly".
Far more troubling is that Pollard, that it seems like 99% of the "fans" here insisted should be the starting running back, had only a 2.9 ypc, even with a 23-yard run. Other than that long run, he had 24 carries for 49 yards, barely over 2 ypc. Where was the 5+ ypc back that we saw last year?
In the Giants game, only 70 yards, deduct his one long run, less than 3.5 ypc.
As I and other said, don't be so quick to anoint Pollard as the next 1,500 yard running back, now he's "the man", and teams like the Jets key on him every play he's in. Now does the line bear some responsibility for that? And/or the Jets defensive scheme?
Sure, but we had every o-line starter but Tyler Smith (who was missed no doubt) and still Pollard had trouble making yards.
My point is that the run game at this point is less than it needs to be. The Dallas formula to win games is run the ball, play solid/turnover getting defense and minimize Dak's passing as far as putting him in the position of having to wins games with his arm. So far, the defense has more than done their part.
But the running game needs work....
