I still believe the teams with the most cap space (MIA, IND, TB) this offseason would definitely bite on giving up that $40mill plus giving up draft pieces in order to get an 'established' QB. However, the Boys being able to navigate that seamlessly and drafting and/or signing a replacement QB in the meanwhile is my main concern. Dak or Bridgewater/2 first rounders (one being Tua)? If that's feasible, would the Boys be better or worse? That would be best case scenario of course if a trade could happen. I don't see that happening.
Yeah, I don't think Mia or TB would be better off. Indy might be because they have the tools on board to make Dak successful but then again, if they sign up for 40 a year for only three years and are back at the table in two with a price tag of 50, then maybe they don't keep those tools for long, IDK.
The Cowboys are perfectly suited to transition now. They have a strong team Offensively and they have pieces Defensively. They have a new Coaching Staff so I think it's reasonable to believe that if they could bring in a Keenun or a Carr or maybe a Bridgewater, they could make that situation successful with the pieces they have around the QB. Figure on a guy like Fromm, not Tua, take the picks that would come in a trade for Dak and put them to work on the Defensive side of the ball, take the saved cap and add good players in areas of need and you have yourself a team that can win the division for awhile IMO. You might have a team that can challenge for a championship. Fromm is going to be a good NFL QB in the right situation IMO. Bring him along, don't feed him to the wolves, develop him and let the Coaching Staff do their thing with the tools in the bag. Yeah, I don't hate that idea at all, TBH.
