4/11 Mock

I mean, I agree that it would’ve been nice to see the results of those drills.

If I didn’t think Surtain had the athleticism to be good outside, I would feel similarly to how you feel... it’s just that I do think he does. If you don’t, I can’t fault you for thinking that way.

So, I guess we’ll see once he plays some. It’ll be interesting to see where he’s taken and how he does with better wideouts. If he goes to Dallas, I’ll hope I’m right. If he ends up in Philly, I’ll be hoping that you’re right.

Always the way it is.

Makes sense...interested to see how he looks as a pro.

Yep, everybody’s different and I can’t say my way is right and another way is wrong because we just don’t know. It’s just how I feel about prospects and how I would do things if I were in charge.

I have certain things that I like in prospects. Another person might prefer other things and not like my prospects. It just the way it is. And that is fine too as long as you have logic in the way you pick prospects, I can respect it.

That’s why I really don’t like to argue in the draft zone... because nobody really knows if they are right or wrong for a few years. Sometimes if a prospect is good enough, you can tell pretty much right away, but usually it takes time.

I like Pitts and would trade up for him, and I like Surtain at 10.

You may like Surtain at 10 but think it’s crazy to move up for Pitts.

That’s all fine too... there’s more than one way to skin a cat and we’re all just in here talking about what we enjoy so I’m not gonna trip about any of it.
If the Cowboys did not have three top flight receivers and two solid tight ends. I would be all for Pitts. The Cowboys would literally have to change how they play for a decoy. The Cowboys have to much money and offensive resources to take Pitts. The secondary has no money or resources except a second round pick (Diggs). Jerrah might do it though because the Cowboys will be must see television. ESPN and Foxsports would be all over the Cowboys.

That’s a red flag to me though because even though we don’t, you can bet Surtain knows his numbers in those drills and they must have been so bad that his agent told him not to do them

I’m not at all in board with taking Surtain or Horn at 10

Haha, yeah, I know you’re not.

Personally, I would be all for a DT or DE at 10 if there was one worth it. I think the DL is critical to defensive success. Unfortunately, there isn’t one.

I do really like Phillips and might would consider him at 10 if he had a clean medical history. I really like how he plays and I think it will translate well to the pro’s. But man, those concussions worry me. 10th overall is such a great chance to add a top talent... and I hate to risk having a medical bust there. But boy do I like how he plays.

I might would move up from 44 for him into the late first if I’m Dallas and felt good about his medical. Him and Gregory rotating at WDE (LEO) would really make me feel better about the pass rush.

I got off topic, but yeah I do like Surtain too.

Well, I must’ve typed on here ten different times why I would move up for Pitts, so I won’t repeat it here... but I do think it would be best for the franchise to do so.

I don’t know I’m right anymore than anyone else... but I feel strongly that he’ll be well worth it.

One thing for certain, if the Cowboys do move up for him, it won’t be for anything like Jerry lives offense or Jerry wants to sell jerseys. People inside the Dallas war room genuinely think Pitts is going to be a game changer... and I agree with that. Way more than just Jerry feels that way, we’re hearing.

Not to be that guy but I have not heard any link to the Cowboys but the fascination that Jerry has with Pitts. I think the Cowboys have done a good job of hiding their intentions. We are all speculating about the picks. I would not be surprised if the Cowboys pick anyone as long as the player will improve the team.

What’s the uncertainty with Gregory? Anything other than a CB in the first round is a F- in my opinion. Can’t ignore the biggest weakness this team has had for a decade+ anymore.
Geez, I guess that's a toss-up between 1T and FS. CB maybe comes in a distant third in regards to "the biggest weakness" for 10 years.

I love Ojulari. At the end of the day he will probably have the best NFL career from any edge rusher in this draft class.

I say that because Daniel Jeremiah on the NFL Network said something along the lines of: Jerry might love Kyle Pitts but I’ve heard that he isn’t the only person in that Dallas war room that is smitten by Pitts.

Scott Pioli, who he was talking to said: No, he’s not the only one there that feels like that.

It was pretty clear that Jeremiah had heard something out of Dallas in regards to how many people there really think Pitts is special.

It doesn’t mean a lot in the bigger scheme of things... but I do believe there are many there who’d like to get Pitts.

Daniel Jeremiah is probably getting his information from Bucky Brooks. Pitts is a unicorn no doubt and I think if he drops to 10 the Cowboys would probably take him. I just feel we need defense. I can’t imagine him getting past 8 though. My reasoning is he is a better receiver then Chase, Waddle and Smith. I think Pitts is the best offensive prospect in the draft.

Browning and Cox don’t do a lot for me. Browning is a 2 down SAM, and Cox lacks instincts and is bad against the run.

Hate a top 100 pick on those kind of dudes.

Baron Browning is not 2 down Sam, he's a 4-3 WILL LB and one of the best in the draft

I like Werner in the 4th, he's got a good chance to be a starter. I like Nick Bolton earlier a little better... It would be nice to have a LB who can take on a block in the gap, shed and make a play.

Cnuball21 and myself have been on the island by ourselves as we don't think Surtain is worthy of a top 10 selection. We both like Surtain, but see him being more of a solid player then a special talent. Before the injury, we both agreed that Farley had those elite #1 CB traits, where Surtain didn't. In my opinion, more of a Bryon Jones type of player, shadow corner, with average ball skills. Personally, I would rather pair up Diggs with more of a speed option on the other side. Yes, Surtain 40 was acceptable, but he chose not to do any of the agility drills.

Surtain is such a polarizing prospect on this board. Heard a poster say he is already better then Jalen Ramsey and is the next Revis. Heard another say worst case he is Champ Bailey. I have accepted the fact, he is most likely the pick at 10, but I would rather draft Slater and take Stokes, Meli or Joseph in rd 2, don't see that much separation between tier 1 and tier two corners, especially in a cover 3 scheme.

I'm starting to like the day 2 Tackles in this class.

Spencer Brown from N. Iowa, Eichenberg @ ND, Walker Little @ Stanford, Dillon Radunz @ ND State, Cosmi @ Texas...

All have some flaws they will need to address but I think we can walk away with a solid Tackle that can develop while Smith/Collins start the next year and/or two.

I think this team may take another interior offensive lineman if the board falls a certain way too. They let Looney walk, Williams is an UFA at the end of the year and McGovern is in year 3 of 4.

Otherwords, I think the draft may fall very close to this.
Defense round 1, OT in round 2, the back to defense to end day 2.

If they don’t go Sewell/Slater at 10 I could see it shaping up this way as well.

Great year to add OL and DBs due to the depth.

The medicals are the only concern for me on Phillips and tbh I'm not sure I trust this teams medical staff
I have Phillips as the best pass rusher. If they could get a season or 2 out of him, he could put them over the top like Haley did back in the day.

I can’t wait to see how soon Phillips and Farley go.
