There's really only one QB in the NFL who has earned top pay - Mahomes. 6 seasons into his career and he has 5 straight AFC championship games, 3 super bowl appearances with 2 wins.... No one comes close. Not Stafford, Hurts, Dak, Jackson, Murray, Allen, or Burrow. None of them.

I know it's a pipe dream and will never happen, but NFL pay needs to be results based. Does Dak really intend to get better as he keeps saying over and over? He's getting the same pay whether he goes 1-16 or 16-1, so where is the incentive to actually keep the promise and do better?
I hear you bro. I've had the same discussion with my cousins. They all say the same thing. Players should get paid according to their play results. Sucks how the NFL and player's union will never agree to that.

Contend? Have I missed something?
You win 24 games in 2 years? You’re in contention….there’s only one winner. This is the closest we’ve been in 25 years. I get you want to be pessimistic it’s been awhile so I get it but know what’s in front of you. Cowboys need to take advantage.

That I can’t agree with because Jerry and owners get billions despite results.

Bro, do they really get billions? If so, how often? 1 year? 5 years? 10 years?
The Cowboys have a huge annual revenue which exceeds $1 billion and a $162 million payroll, which has increased to $214 million in 2023.

But let’s say hypothetically they didn’t. You can suck for years like Daniel Snyder has and just sell your team for 6 billion….you can even be scum and do it.

If the NFL went to a results based pay scale you would see some terrible product of guys just chasing stats….like guys laying on the floor and letting a defensive end sack him because they are friends.

Because they get paid on the product they produce. You don’t get paid for championships…should Nick Foles be paid based on winning a SB? Or how about Blaine Gabbert?

That's what you saw? Lol
I mean he missed 6 games. That's not what I saw that's just fact. I'm not interested in arguing about how good or bad he was last season if you think he sucked last season fair enough. The fact remains that even if you think sucks you can't sit here and say one year equates to a decline. The math not mathing.....

4 Cowboys who are next in line for contract extensions

With the 2023 NFL draft arriving in less than a week, the focus for many teams has been preparing for the biggest offseason event the league holds. Yet that hasn’t stopped the Dallas Cowboys from handling a little bit of other business for their future.

The team made some financial moves recently when they picked up the fifth-year option for wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and announced right tackle Terence Steele had signed his second-round tender as a restricted free agent. Lamb’s option will guarantee him over $17.9 million in 2024, while Steele’s tender pays him $4.3 million for the upcoming season. Both moves were expected, and both are players the Cowboys will continue to attempt to sign to long-term deals.

Dallas shouldn’t be done working extensions this offseason as there are a few candidates who the team would be wise to lock up now rather than waiting.

WR CeeDee Lamb
CB Trevon Diggs
Center Tyler Biadasz
QB Dak Prescott

Interesting perspective and thoughts about Dak. I agree with the thinking, but just not sure he is the right QB to hitch our wagon too like that.
Daks proven he’s one of the top WB’s in the league so extending him is a no brainer. With Cooks, hopefully an upgrade at RB, Gallup being better and Lamb with more experience this offense could be record breaking. They need to upgrade the offensive line though.

Dak looked his best his first year in the league. It's been a decline since once the league got the book on him.

Good defenses toy with him, and Dallas was 5-1 in those six games Dak missed.

What does them being 5-1 mean? Patriots won 11 games with Matt Cassel….went 5-0 a few years ago with Jimmy G and Brisett.

Good defenses you with him? Did he not destroy Philly last year? He put more yards on them than anyone or did that not count?

If you think he looked the best his rookie year you are lost. His footwork and arm are much more improved since then.

He's just a guy. He's fine. That's it. Can't put a team on his back in a big game. Incapable.

If they extend Dak, you pretty much well can count on Dallas not getting to an NFCCG, much less a SB. The misery continues. Dallas should be looking for his replacement already, not an extension.
