4 More Years of Cowboys vs. Eli

Can't understand why so many here take Eli for granted because he's torched the Cowboys in some games while beating them in two elimination games. Although the Cowboys beat the Giants both times last season Eli passed for just under 600 yards in those games with 6 TD's. In just over 70 attempts the Cowboys sacked him only twice. The key to beating the Giants is the same every year you have to pressure Eli or he'll have a productive game that could turn into a dogfight. The Cowboys barely escaped with a win in the second game last season that could have put a dagger in 2014. Allow Eli to get comfortable and it could lead to a very difficult game.

I know 3 things about Eli.

The luckiest QB i have ever seen
We bring out the best in him.
And he is one tough dude that is always on the field. Pretty amazing actually.

I was going to agree 100% but he is lucky and when he gets lucky he is good. He has also been clutch.

AS a Romo hater you have ZERO credibility in talking about ANY QB. And of course you would love one that has so many interceptions. When you scream about every one Romo has. FACT is that Eli was lucky as all crap his first SB. That Helmet play was certainly luck and nothing else. Only a complete failure of Football 101 would think Eli has any chance at the HOF. GOT news for you- ROMO has a better shot at the HOF then your pampered pet.

If his SB rings were all about his DL he wouldn't have had to play comeback on two last ditch drives and he wouldn't have ended up the games MVP in both wins. The 2 teams he won SB's with weren't all that good. In 2007 the Giants went 10-6 and were underdogs in the SB. In 2011 the Giants were 7-7 at one point and the Cowboys could have finished their season off had they held on to a 12 point lead with just 8 minutes to play. The Giants finished up that season at 9-7 and only one team had ever reached the SB with a 9-7 record. The Giants were again dogs in the SB and ended up being the only 9-7 team to ever win a SB.

He outplayed Tom Brady in both games. According to your logic Montana and Staubach must have sucked because some of their greatest games were won during dramatic last ditch drives. Although Eli's numbers weren't great in the 07 SB when it was down to do or die he got it done that's all that matters. In the 2011 SB Eli played great check his stats. He completed 75% of his passes for almost 300 yards and you think that sucks? He didn't "suck" in either one of those games you like many other FANS have an anti Eli agenda going.

Those stats were all about his WRs like Hakeen Nicks, Victor Cruz and Manningham having great games. Your point is that an MVP Trophy makes him a great player, my point is that Joe Flacco and Larry Brown have Super Bowl MVP trophies also.

For those receivers to have the stats it took Eli to deliver the ball. Tyree has no chance at a miraculous helmet catch if Eli gets sacked on that play or couldn't deliver the football where Tyree had a chance to make a play on it. The throw to Manningham 4 years later was a terrific throw and catch. Manningham would have had no chance to make that play had the ball not been thrown perfectly. As for Joe Flacco and Larry Brown they only won one SB MVP award Eli has won two which validated his first one.

For ODB to have a chance at a circus catch Eli had to get the ball there enough to give him a chance. Montana's throw to Clark wasn't exactly on the mark but he gave his receiver a chance to make the play. If you listen to FANS when a Giants receiver makes a catch it's all the receiver and has nothing to do with Eli. No one is saying Eli is Aikman where has anyone rated Eli that high? He's rated as top 10 QB in todays game and that's not overrating him.

I still can't believe that guy won two Super Bowls. Granted those one playoffs he played very well.. but outside that except when he plays us he's always looked like garbage.
Just think about this, Romo's worst year of QB rating was 90.5... Eli's BEST year was 93.1, only a 2.6 difference between Romo's worst year and Eli's BEST year. He's thrown for over 20 interceptions... three times. I know stats don't show the whole picture and are only a number... but geez, I am completely dumbfounded how this guy has been super bowl MVP twice.

I mean... just look at the other guy involved in that trade between the Giants and Chargers; Philip Rivers has had 4 years with over 100 QB rating. Manning's carrer average QB rating: 82.4... Rivers worst year: 82.4. To me Rivers is by far the better player, but his team hasn't really done anything. I guess it really is a team game, that's for sure.

Sorry for the semi-rant... It just bottles my mind sometimes thinking about it. I will give the guy credit for being tough and not missing games, he gets some major respect points for that... but other than that... nothing.

Eli has had some pretty good defenses and WRs during those superbowl victories. On the other hand Romo has had the latter. Regrettably a lot has been put on Tony's shoulder, and now that he's in the last phase of his career things are starting to come together.
