Penalties are killing us, pure and simple. Players are coached not to commit penalties, but it seems like there is little accountability in the Cowboys organization. We keep playing the same guys who are making the same mistakes over and over because we don't really have much choice. Lack of any quality depth is hurting us.

So my question is, what do we do? Do we bench the habitual offenders and maybe lose more games than we otherwise would or try to play with a bunch of stupid players hoping physical talent will overcome stupidity?

If we fix the penalty issues and take care of the ball we are as good or better than any team out there in my opinion.

And its the only reason we aren't 5-0.

Not because of the talent or anything else. Mental mistakes are why we are 3-2 and probably deserve to be 2-3.

It's a miracle.

420 yards of offense a game. 24 points a game. We should be killing teams. Not just squeaking by the worst teams in the NFL. Do not confuse me with those that are continually down on the Boys because I really believe they can make it deep into the playoff, but this damn penalty thing is making me nuts. We are leaving 10 to 14 points a game on the field because of penalties.

I know it was only high school, but my coach did not put up with stupid mistakes. If we just got beat on a good play by the opposing team, he was upset but he went nuts when we did things to beat ourselves. It seems like a couple of players are starting to step up and hold each other accountable since the coach won't do it. I am just sick and tired of the stupidity.

We were doing ok until the KC game.

26 penalties in 4 games is not great (not counting the KC game). And they always seem to come on offense right after we cross the 50. We have 39 total and the best team has 24. Huge difference.

We could easily 5-0 if a couple bounces went our way.

but owell.

5-0 would have been nice. Couple of bounces or a couple of dozen less penalties and we could have been 5-0. Hate to see us miss the playoffs because of penalties. That is not they way you want a season to end.

Bottom feeders.

Absolutely. No way we lose to Giants. No way.

Disagree.

I think it's a lack of focus and until someone steps up and demands some acountability it will continue.

We would be 5-0 if we cut out the penalties and the Turn Overs. That's a simple fact.

We can argue all day on the talk radio about the play of the QB or the OL or the Secondary. We can complain about the lack of sacks or the fact that Roy is not producing or that we can't tackle but at the end of the day, we would be unbeaten and considered the best team in the league right now if we had the penalties and the TOs under control.

Our GM has this under control guys. He has two decades of experience with the same team. Don't you dare worry.

Turnover differential is the most disconcerting stat. The Cowboys' propensity to turnover the ball is a trend that, if it continues, will most likely prevent them from making the playoffs.

this is an undisciplined team that beats itself. it really shouldnt be surprising to anybody anymore.

:hammer: It's the same story though.

We were 13-3 in 2007 because we were +5 in turnovers.

Our defense needs to create turnovers. Plain and simple. If we do that, we'll win ball games and be able to overcome our mental mistakes.

I would like to add. It is no secret that we will turn the ball over. So... come the end of the season(playoffs, of we make it) when its crunch time. Teams T-Off on Romo. They know he will be back there "in the pocket" and they know they can force a turnover.

I see what you did there.

Hence why it's imperative the Cowboys defense begins creating turnovers.

I don't want anyone to think I'm being bitter here. I'm simply pointing out that teams with negative turnover differentials are far less likely to make the playoffs.
