People can blame Murray for the GB with his fumble I guess. I blame the defense that left an injured, immobile QB stay clean.

He bounced back the next drive and took that run around the right end 26 yds all the way to the 1. He showed great burst and finished it off with the TD on the next play. That put them up 21-13 and pretty much negated the fumble in my mind. It was back to game in hand after that drive. The D couldn't slow down Rodgers after that point and the terrible call against Dez sealed our fate

Yeah I honestly thought the defense played well enough to win......I think honestly the offense left too many points out there in that 1st half......BUT the defense did us no favors especially on that last drive of the game. They had some shots to make some plays and simply didn't.

Just because you sat out a year doesn't mean you'll be better. I've seen guys get better and i've seen guys never be the same again. Look at Rolando McClain. Constantly having nagging injuries. Its from the time off from football.

McClain came off a couch to play football. Dude could barely practice two days in a row during camp.

You think Peterson will be in that kind of "shape?"

In 2013 Peterson was 5th in Rushing Yards and 4th in TDs

Murray only had 140 less yards and 1 less TD than Peterson with 60 less carries

What do you think Murray does if he is playing for the teams the Vikings had? With their offensive personnel?

I think that is the question Jerry/Stephen have to be asking themselves about Demarco vs. AP. You cant really predict injuries, but statistics dont lie about RBs coming off 400+ carries. They are much more likely to suffer a precipitous decline. And given that Romo's window is 2-3 years, I dont think the age difference (Demarco 27; AP 30) will be the deciding factor. It's who has the better chance of being a special back for 2-3 years, not 5.

My vote is neither. Get a cheap rookie RB in 1st/2nd and use the money you save on defensive free agents...

how about keep Murray and run him lest?

When you have a chance to acquire a special talent, you do it. The last time Peterson played, he was the best RB in the league.

And the last time he watched the kids, criminal charges were filed.

Maybe a recently-turned 27-year-old, 1100 touches over 4 seasons player versus a soon-to-be 30-year-old, 2200 touches over 7 seasons player is a more fitting question.

That's fair. Maybe should also add, a 27-year old who never played 16 games until last year.

This Dallas team got to the playoffs this past season, because of youth. YOUTH, YOUTH..

Start with youth, build a team that can be successful for years to come.

Don't sign some 30 yr old back with baggage.. That's moronic.

yet Murray played in 30 of the last 32. Yes he has had injury issues so has Peterson. What you think AP is immune to injury?

No he wasn't last time he played a season he did not lead the league and had 1,266 yards and Murray was not far behind at 1,121 with a better avg

Strange thing is the last game he played was vs a run poor Rams team who held him to 75 yards and 3.8 a carry and 0 TD. lol

No, just that dating back to college, Murray has been more prone to injury. I would draft a rookie and not spend money on either of them.

All I can say is I am glad its not my decision to make.
We are most likely not getting AP so that is a moot point.

My concern would be signing Murray or taking Gurley or Gordon in the first round of the draft.

And the risk of injury will still exist, it is football anyone can go down at any time. As for a rookie well like any position there are bust, I would like to see an all-purpose back, a guy who can run, block and catch. Neither of the 2 top backs have shown they can do that. People watch them run in college that is great but there are many backs who become limited in the pro ranks because they can't do all that is asked of them. This does not mean I want Murray getting a back breaking deal, I have said from the get go an offer of around 6 mill a season which still puts him behind several RB in the league.

I'm of the mind that the Dallas front office ultimately won't have the opportunity to decide whether or not to keep Murray around. Murray is more than likely to make the decision to go for the big bucks and bypass what little money in comparison that might be offered by Dallas. Other teams and their FO will be much more inclined to make an offer that Murray simply can't refuse.

I really wouldn't blame him for doing so. He has a responsibility to his family to provide for them as best he can. RBs are subject to being cut off from their employment at any given moment when they take an unfortunate hit. It's simply the nature of life as a running back in the NFL, nothing more. You've almost gotta take the $$ while it's available. After all, RB careers are ordinarily quite short and there's nothing shameful about putting business first.
