49ers and Rams getting in on the Romo sweepstakes?

In one breath the writer is saying there is a market for Romo and in another saying he will be released not traded. Seems dumb.

That being said, Romo for Aaron Donald it is!

I like the way you think :D

True enough but, the point was...no picks. Romo is not going to play for a crap team...

But you tried to make it seem worse if he retires. The net result is the same for the "just cut" him crowd.

Here's a hypothetical:

Tony would go to Houston, they have offered a 5th

49er's come out of nowhere and offers a 2nd

Does the team accomodate Tony and take the 5th rounder from a team he likes or does the team jump on the niners offer?

I say the team shows Tony appreciation and takes the Houston offer.

I say our GM is stupid enough to agree with you

It would upset me if they took the 5th for Tony's sake.
1. Who really knows how good or bad the team will be unless it's Cleveland.
2. Although TR has been a good QB for Dallas, he has been compensated very well for his time here.
3. If you start passing up better deals for the team to suit the individual player who's leaving, what are you telling your team?
4. So are you going to give Witten a "better" team to play for in lieu of better team compensation elsewhere (when a better TE takes Witten's spot)? In other words, where does it end?
If the case presents itself let TR go to the highest bidder. It's the right call as a GM for the future of the team. I think even TR would understand and respect that.

Don't see that happening because being able to spread $19.6M over 2 seasons would benefit us more than a 5th round pick. It's going to have to be a better trade offer than that to be worth taking on the full $19.6M hit in one season. Plus Romo is going to have to agree to the trade. It's the value we get in the trade and Romo agreeing to it is what's going to make trading him difficult.

All Tony has to do is retire and you can stuff that 1 & 3 while eating all his cap hit. Stick to being a fan.

Tells me to stick being a fan, but claims to know what Romo would do if traded to a crappy team. Makes sense lol. These are all hypotheticals that are unlikely to happen bro. You nor I have any idea what Romo or Jerry would do if they are put in these situations. However if we're being truthful, we both know nobody is likely to offer anything like i suggested....

Romo liking Hollywood isn't going to cause him to want to end his career on his back playing for a 2-14 team that has no OL. The Cowboys weren't contenders in 2015 because we didn't have a QB but the Rams are more than a QB away. They don't have NEAR the OL the Cowboys have or a security blanket for Romo like a Jason Witten. Goff was supposed to be the most NFL ready QB in last years draft and looks like he may never be ready. His confidence is being destroyed behind the Rams OL. Romo wouldn't survive behind that OL. He's not ending up with the Rams. Going to a bad team would practically guarantee his career ending on a sour note.
The Rams weren't a 2 win team. they won 4 games. And yes they did need a QB, badly.

And this is almost certainly Tom Condon leaking this stuff so likely with Romo's blessing.
The local sources say yes, Romo likes Hollywood.

The Rams would obviously upgrade the OL regardless.
But it's a team in LA with a new head coach and money to spend in FA.

I agree it is still along shot but calling it CLE is simply incorrect. Which is why no one had leaked CLE as a potential destination.

Anyone dreaming of a Herschel Walker type trade for a soon to be 37 year old, injury prone QB are living in a complete fantasy world. If we bag a draft pick/player or any type of trade it's going to have to benefit Romo or he won't agree to it and it's going to have to benefit the Cowboys more than spreading $19.6M over 2 years if they release him. What makes trading Romo difficult is he has to agree to it and the compensation has to be worth it which is why the odds favor him being released.

I dont think anyone here is delusional enough to expect a Herschel Walker deal. Im putting my money on Romo being traded for a 2 or a 3, or possibly a flip of picks in round one. I realize the difficulties ahead but believe we will find a team desperate enough to make this happen. I cant wait for the speculation to end and this offseason to begin in earnest.

Agree. I think its an all things equal scenario where Jerry takes care of Romo. If the value if overwhelming better than I expect we go team before Tony.

I was thinking of SF but 4-12 isn't exactly the situation Romo is looking for to finish out his career. The Rams used the #1 overall pick on a QB last April and have no choice but to go with Goff and hope he develops. Going after Romo isn't in the Rams best interest long-term or in Goffs best interest. It's going to take at least a couple of seasons to improve their OL. They've had QB issues since they parted ways with Kurt Warner so going there would almost be as bad as ending up in Cleveland. Romo isn't going to end up with the Rams.

They SHOULD take the 49ers offer.

Jerry take the 2.

Does anyone actually think Tony wouldn't nix a trade to a crappy team?

Romo sweepstakes? :lmao2:

Jerry will cut him so he can play where he wants and we get squat.

Not trying to make it worse but the poster wanted to emphasize the idea of getting picks for Tony no matter what Tony thinks of the idea. Tony really has a lot of
leverage where he goes to play if he goes to play. If a team Tony wants to play for offers picks then, so much the better for the Cowboys.
