Does anyone actually think Tony wouldn't nix a trade to a crappy team?

Yes, but I don't think the Cowboys are going to trade him to a crappy team because it wouldn't be in his best interest and a crappy team isn't likely to offer us a solid pick for him. A SB caliber team is much more likely to offer a solid pick for Romo because that team will be thinking next year, not several years down the road. A crappy team needs to use draft picks for the future to build their team. Trading for an aging, injury prone QB would not be in their best interest but a SB caliber team that's a QB away might be willing to roll the dice.

Tells me to stick being a fan, but claims to know what Romo would do if traded to a crappy team. Makes sense lol. These are all hypotheticals that are unlikely to happen bro. You nor I have any idea what Romo or Jerry would do if they are put in these situations. However if we're being truthful, we both know nobody is likely to offer anything like i suggested....

We agree but, you and I both know how Jerry treats and has treated his star players for over 25 years. Jerry wants Tony in the ROH someday and probably wants an enduring relationship
with him and his family. Jerry will do right by Tony and that is something I would take bets on so actually I think I have a pretty good idea about what will happen.

"If you made me guess, I’d put my money on Houston. The Texans could live with Brock Osweiler as the highest-paid backup in league history for a year."

My money is here too. Always has been. The pairing just makes way too much sense.

I think Tony would work his contract where he got a small cap hit this year, so not that much cap money will be tied up in the QB spot. Likely a 3 year deal with a lot of up front bonus money. I agree. I think Tony should end up in Houston.... just makes to much sense. But the Texans are more dysfunctional than the Cowboys so who knows. The HC is on his way out after this year, more than likely and Rick Smith is an idiot, so I doubt they do it.. but it would make them true contenders before the ink dried on the contract.

We really don't know who and who is not interested at this point.
Could be 5-6 teams and literally could be 0 (though I doubt it)
All pure speculation

But from what we can tell...the market is not bigger, but smaller. It appears more and more as though AZ, KC, and NYJ are out of it. they were all on various lists two weeks ago.

If the market for Romo is growing, why would that result in his release as opposed to a trade?
The more people who need your services, the greater flexibility and options you have. If the Rams, 49ers, Bears, Broncos and Texans are allegedly vying for Romo's services, a trade comes into play in a major way.

As an aside, by the draft half the teams in the league will be interested in Romo.

I caught that as well......................if a market is growing, why would the Cowboys release Romo?

The writer contradicts his own point:facepalm:

We really don't know. We can speculate all we want, but at the end of the day, it depends on how much he really wants to play. If he still wants to start badly, do you really think he'd retire rather than play for the Rams, 49'ers, etc.?

Ha nice! I dont care if Romo is completely unwilling to go there. Having additional teams interested can only serve to make him appear more appealing and thus drive up his value. We wont be releasing Romo. The only question now is how much can we get for him.
If we get a 3rd I'll be happy. Anything higher I'll attempt a backflip for lol

When a player is released I thought there is a Waiver list and for a short while teams can put a claim in. Is that not the case in the offseason?
I believe in the offseason, it's anyone with more than 4 years accrued service time avoids waivers. It's like this all the way up to week 8 of the regular season, at which point everyone has to pass through waivers.

Here's a hypothetical:

Tony would go to Houston, they have offered a 5th

49er's come out of nowhere and offers a 2nd

Does the team accomodate Tony and take the 5th rounder from a team he likes or does the team jump on the niners offer?

I say the team shows Tony appreciation and takes the Houston offer.
If they do, they are dumber then anyone suspected

In one breath the writer is saying there is a market for Romo and in another saying he will be released not traded. Seems dumb.

That being said, Romo for Aaron Donald it is!

I'd love to have Donald play the 3 Collins at the 1

If they take the Houston offer, the entire front office should hand in their resignation and the Jones' should immediately put the team up for sale. You don't pass up the 34th pick in the draft to save feelings.

I don't think retiring would be the alternative.

Romo really doesn't have to go anywhere if it shakes out that way.

Both Dak and Romo are under contract. Romo for at least 2 more years. Dak. Well. As a sophomore 4th rounder, he's locked in for 3 more years minimum.

The Cowboys are holding all the cards and have all the leverage.

For a change.

Besides. Jerry loves the circus. And thinks its great for the Cowboys bottom line. And he's probably right.

That would be the stupidest move in history, lol. Look if it came down to two picks that were less than 10 picks apart in any round but the first and one team was more favorable for Romo sure why not. But between a 5th and a 2nd rounder, no way....
