Wow somebody who has actually seen them play??? A rare thing indeed. What's your take?

What I've gotten is that their run game is their main strength. Is it good or just what they're best at? Listened to a Bay Area podcast that said they were going 3 & out about 50% of the time. Is that just against the Seahawks or pretty much all 3 games? It also seemed to say they needed help at receiver. Not exactly a great O?, but they've still scored in the upper 20s against the Rams & Panthers.

Finding anything on their D is next to impossible. The only mention I got was that their pass rush was pretty bad.

Sure sounds like we both match up with the same strengths/weaknesses. Maybe our passing game tips the scales our way. I guess the real question is who is actually better. Inquiring minds want to know.
Good analysis..

The reason I posted this thread was there little to no discussion about the 9ers on the site.

Everybody was basking in the Chicago game..

which to me was a very bad team and we should be asking more questions about Sunday to understand what is ahead.

so hopefully it will get more discussion.

Their TOP is not good.
...and it's not because they're scoring quickly. They're also losing the plays/game and yardage battle. They're averaging about 175 passing yds/game. If JG focuses on shutting down their run game, they'll be hard pressed to beat us, IMO.

From what I can see, SF isn't that great, either. They're not Chicago bad, but they have issues.

9ers are very beatable team. As are a number of the coming opponents that I've seen other pundits claim the Cowboys will have trouble with. The Vikings for example, Bradford is a glass QB waiting to be shattered once again. The healthy of that team is extremely suspect. Anyway, back to the 9ers... new coaching staff inherited several holes in that roster. I seriously doubt they filled them all. Our coaching staff will find those holes and exploit them.

Yep..flawed like us.

Our injury issues are going to change the chemistry for us.

More pressure on DAK if Dez sits.

How much can he handle before regressing?

Don't know.

They don't have the QB to exploit our weakness rushing the passer. Cowboys just need to keep Hyde under control running the ball. SF is also likely missing their 2 best TEs.

Well I'm glad you did because I couldn't find anything useful about them. Little 2-3 line comments, etc & stat sheets. Actually wound up on their forum thread about the game. They didn't sound too enthusiastic. The quote I remember was to the effect of "If we go 2-14 I want the Cowboys to be our 2nd win".

Exactly.

I hate the 9ers.

Our rivalry in the 90's was the best.

Becuz we have sucked so bad for the last 20 years that they surged ahead in popularity.

We have a chance to move into a rivalry position but we have to win.

If we don't its one step back to irrelevence.

So is it fair to say SF's defense is in for a long day ?

49ers this year have a bad road defense.

But last year they had NFL best defense at home, and so far that's continued.

First points the Cowboys score this Sunday will be the first points scored against SF @ Levis this season.

It will be close to a home game for us. Cowboys fans always show up big in SF.

Just like Dallas was a home game for the Niners in 2014. :D

We can never be really good at the same time. Had the 2014 contest been later in the season, it would have been one helluva game.

Kaep isn't sitting because of the protest. He is sitting because he is terrible. He got benched last year for Gabbert, and Gabbert proved to be an improvement

Well, word on the street is that Kap will play this year. Even those tired of Kap in SF figure to want to see him return if this is all Gabbert's got.

You have to remember one thing about backup QBs: it's way different being a backup than an entrenched starter.

Kap had a terrible situation last year, and things just snowballed out of control. And not having a top 5 defense anymore to keep you in games until you sort things out is not going to help a young QB. He was mentally crushed, while Gabbert could sit back and play loose.

Now that Gabbert has to be THE MAN, we're seeing a lot less looseness from him. I think he could be good if he played more relaxed. He's got a bit of that Alex Smith too-worried-to-screw-up in him. Worse actually.

This is part of the reason why Kap looked so good in 2012.....it was a perfect situation literally from personnel, defense, playing loose with nothing to lose and even having the former starter helping you out on the sideline.

Don't want him to come in until a few more weeks of getting stronger and mentally prepared.

Also, 49ers are as weak at the WR position as I've seen in a long, long time. Reminds me of Brady with some no name scrubs early in the 2013 season...

You're correct I think this year they spent their first four picks on the defensive side of things. They also picked a QB who has been average for a 4th rd pick. They have a reasonable defense and QB play similar to the 2015 cowboys.
